That rash on your primary cover would seem to indicate otherwise.
I think that was a "before" rash, and it looks rather machined IMHO.

As much as I’d like to claim it is a ‘rash’ from my adventures whilst two wheel drifting around the outside of Rossi... it is actually a flat that I put there because the exhaust was fouling the cover.

Sorry to disappoint y’all !

Great looking bike. I love the painted fenders and that you got rid of those horrible "lollypop" directionals for the emgo's. I did exactly the same thing to my commando. I also have short low handlebars like you do too. I just couldn't stand the small roadster fuel tank because I don't put ethanol fuel in my commando, so I went to interstate tank and sidecovers so I can extend my range without searching for non-E fuel. (nice photography too...)

Hi folks!
Brand new member here, and brand new owner of this 1972 850 Commander :) My goal is to keep the bike as original as possible, just make it as reliable as possible, so the search for a proper set of handle bars is going to start soon :)

Engine has not run in 15 years so trying to decide if I should get it running and "go with it" or if I should tear it down and check/replace wearable items. The bike has 10,000 miles on it.

Sorry about the URL link, I could not figure out how to attach an image that exists on my local machine.

Finally got a proper ride this weekend. Bike is fantastic. Took some pictures.

The bike looks great!

I had some of those petrol taps before but can’t recall where I got them from! Can you enlighten me?

Also, what are the carbs?

1973 850 Commando. A Commander is a different (rotary engined) model.

Thank you for the welcome, and please accept my apology. I know it's a Commando, simply a typo.

I'm just wondering why I haven't got a Belgian flag in the corner of my icon and still a UK one?
I could still do with a few photography lessons though, it's a good job I only sell planks for a living.
