Note the high quality quilted horsehair padding for safety. I had them custom made for me when I started racing in 1972. They were flat track style, but with some mods to make them suitable for road racing. 1984 was the last year for them. The doctors cut them off of me after a serious crash at Willow Springs, also in 1984.

These were the race bikes of my racing pal at the time, Chris Scott, and I, in a poor quality picature of our pit area at the 1984 Daytona AMA race. It was the first time at Daytona for both of us.
The red Commando at the front is Chris' bike, and the PR and featherbed at the rear are mine.
