Peashooters sound AMAZING on a Trident !

Please, tell me more, about the sound of the pea shooters.

The "gatlin gun" ends like I have, heard on other triples kinda sounded like a fart in a bathrub unless the engine was really revving/pulling hard.

First piccie shows what looks like glass fibre packing? When I pulled mine apart there was no packing. However did not buy new so don't know. I did pack them again with steel wool as I know that pink
house insulation will be destroyed in short order by the sound waves.
AN peashooters that I have on the Norton are really loud. I know they offer a quieter version now, would
like to hear them.
Not sure what kind of silencers they use on electric bikes but they seem quite effective! :-O

My T160 has the same muffler , it is really harsh "apparently " when I got it it had nothing inside , so I found some perforated tube about 1 ¾ or 1 ⅞ about 8" long and welded it on behind the multi tube exit , then wrapped it with some industrial fiberglass tape its white about 50mm x 3mm and held it on with stainless .032" mig wire , it sounds a bit better , helmet and ear plugs to remove wind noise 😀 , but it's still pretty loud , I didn't close the end of the perforated, I thought that might kill it .

Peashooters simply release the natural and intended sound of a triple as nature intended.

Not as raucous as rayguns, or as, errr, raygun looking.

At low to medium rpm they give a deep yet unobtrusive sound, just nice to hear when rolling on the throttle.

At higher rpms, when it gets ‘on the cam’ they release the triple howl. You’ll think you’re in a WW2 Spitfire. The howl, or scream, of that 120 crank throw at high revs is just freakin’ awesome !!

However, I did bin the big black filter box on mine, at first for the ‘date box’ T150 type filter and later on for open ‘shemozzles’ so I got a lovely induction roar complimenting the peashooters.

Worth reading up on cam timing too. I forget the figures now but T160s were de tuned a tad. IIRC fiddling to get .150” lift @TDC on both reverts them to T150 timing, but please check this out and don’t take my word as final on this.

You are correct on the 150 number. You need to clock them as the factory marks will get you close but not exact. No doubt it was close enough and out the door. The wheels in mine will not even get you close to 150 so quality control on parts is unsurprisingly iffy. Each cam wheel has three keyways but even that wasnt enough. The bike runs very well none the less.

I gave my triple a work out yesterday
And I can confirm those peashooters and date box bring out the best in the bike
And the worst in me!!

Mine has the same muffler, actually I've never looked right down like you show ? , mine had the back cut off the gatling gun , and i added 250mm of perforated tube and wrapped it with 50mm fiberglass tape , and wired it on with .032 stainless wire , it was very loud before and the tube mod took the edge off it , I had ear plugs and a helmet and I was upfront of the outlet , didn't sound too bad to me 😁 , I was cleaning it this morning and the muffler had a bad rattle , the bolt in flange had cracked 360 degrees and it had a 12mm chunk missing , all TIGed up no problem, I probably need to make it longer to gain support from further down the tube either that or make a thicker flange . Cheers .

I figured out mine were EMGO copies.
They are now reposing quietly in the scrap steel dumpster at my work.
The chrome was in poor condition as well, so an easy choice.
