Pictures of your Norton Commandos

Thanks to everyone who has replied and all your positive comments. This site has been a massive help during the rebuild and I can't wait to see what these Commando's are like to ride . I've only had two short runs on this bike before the strip and build so looking forward to spring. Cheers, Nick.

The finish is top draw, BUT...dare i say i dont like the tail light assembly drooping , Or is it just the photo angle?

Wow, some of these bikes look the business. I'm new to Nortons and it was a steep learning curve restoring this 72 commando with 71 engine. Learning about off sets and setting isolastics is all new to a Triumph man. I absolutely love the look of the Corbin seat but understand they don't make it for the Interstate tank. Anyway I decided to design my own using an old Interstate seat base with chopped foam and a redesigned cover.

I think it's worked quite well, love to gauge opinions of you hardened Norton fans. Cheers, Nick.

That's right where I'd like mine to end up. However, since I like the sound of the Dunstalls so well and am too cheap to buy new header pipes, they'll stay.
Very nice looking machine!

Back then they only had 2 piston calipers. I think it was a Brembo caliper. The disc was huge and the caliper had to be removed before removing the wheel. Twin discs are better and twin discs were installed later by Ken Canaga.

It was a Brembo. This picture (I think I got it from Jim) of Jim at speed at Willow Springs shows the left side of the bike, and the bracket Jim made to mount the caliper. Looks good, doesn't he?

Tut-tut... That long hair flowing in the wind must be costing him 2 mph...!

Here is mine, a 74 850. Still a work in progress, but unfortunately I can't take credit for the more interesting mods. Mostly the work of Herb Becker.

For some reason, I thought I had posted already on this thread. Going through, it doesn't look like it. So here are a few versions of mine:

Me on it back about 1998 or so:

As it was until recently, when I tore it apart. Now being rebuilt:

Really like that Trevor, very tasty. What's the front end off?

On the road again - PW3 cam, Alton starter, Hydraulic Clutch and Brembo Master Cylinder plus new switchgear added. :D
Recesses for the buttons on the carrier on the Norvil floating disc built up and machined correctly, carrier hard anodised. The recesses for the buttons were oversized ex factory it seems.

The forks and triple clamp are from a first generation (1985-87) Suzuki GSXR, and the hub is from a GT750

swingarm?

The swingarm is by Herb Becker, I spoke to him at a show I had the bike at and he identified it as such. It was on the bike when it made its way to me. Box section, with three mounting points for adjusting rear ride height. Rear hub is a barnes style quick change hub, and the rear brake setup is off of a Yamaha YZ426.
