Yes, I'm prejudiced, but I'm happy to see you went down the roadster path. Very nice! btw, what size carb are you running?

My 750
Left the factory in 1971 as an SS headed for the states...came to me in 2012 as a well worn Roadster. Just back on the road after a six month rebuild. Still has the little headlight bucket... I like it

Nathan,
It's the Mukini 34mm VM kit from Colorado Norton Works. I like it a lot. The bike starts first kick with the Mukini / Tri-Spark ignition and runs fantastic. I really rarely push her past 5500 rpm and spend most of my time between 3000-4500 rpm so I haven't experienced the loss of top end that some folks talk about. The other option I considered was the dual JS Flat Sides but the simplicity of a single carb won out. Plus, Matt has been a great help in getting the bike back on the road making himself available via email and phone for all the little questions that have come up along the way so it felt appropriate to give him my business.

Billy,

That is one nice ride! No offense meant to those who like the unpractical peanut tank but it was just enough fuel to get from one gas station to another. In my case swapping it, the ape hanger bars and fugally banana seat were at the top of the list when I started the refresh. :D

Hello from Athens Greece!

Here are some pictures of my Commando!
I restored it 10 years ago and have done many happy miles with it.

Nice bike and I really like that Atlas? tank.

It is the tank used on the Police patrol bikes (called interpol) and the same tank was in the Long Range Fastback costume.

It is probably a fastback long range tank, the Atlas under side is different and the Interpol has the cut out for a radio (iirc)
They come up on eBay here now and again, there is one listed right now.

The tank on this bike was ex police no radio cradle or cutout. The oil tank I am pretty sure was ex cop as it was a job getting the white paint

Early tail , non standard rear number plate holder , ally smaller. I think it looks better with a small plate.
Just a dress up till my original tank is sealed properly. Seat no fitted.
The barrels should be black on this model.

Finally worked out how to do this, here are some shots of Nellie, my MK III Commando - a large part of my life (& financial insecurity) for the past 16 years, en route to & at the NOC International Rally in the Morvan, in June 2013...

At the source of the Seine (Thursday), totally deserted and extremely peaceful (especially after riding for 2 days) ...

Ride out Saturday, arrival at at the Chateau in Savigny le Beaune, where they have a fascinating exhibition of old European motorcycles on the top(!) floor of the Chateau & various aircraft dotted around the grounds...

Ride out Saturday, in the the Haute Cotes De Beaune heading for lunch. You can just see the fork fluid from a blown seal dripping onto my tyre necessitating a new fork seal fitted at the rally on Sunday (& merci beaucoup au Benoit for assistance!). My ambition is to attend a rally without having to do any maintenance...

Cheers, Mike & Nellie

So stinking jealous! About the best we can do around here is see the Giant Ball of String attraction! Time to head out to the garage and go into the fetal position next to the bike.

OK, here's mine. A 1971 750. Had it for 11 years and it's still getting used a lot. Brembo front brake, Koni shocks, belt, electronic ignition, rear sets. No show bike but a trusty ride. Has only let me down once when I stripped the belt.
I like it! Very meaty looking!

   The look is called "agricultural" in my circle.. Nevertheless i'd be proud to ride it...

"Agricultular"? Who, me? I'd rather say "purposeful" or maybe "form follows funktion". 8)

Hello fellow Norton enthusiasts,
I am new to Access Norton. It looks like a great place with a lot of contributions to the community. My personal bike is currently in project form. It is a Atlas custom hardtail build. However, I just cant help myself. I must post a beautiful picture of the bike we just completed at Sunset motors in Kenosha, WI. Its a 74" 850 Commando we just restored for a customer. I am proud to have been part of the talented team that made this restoration a reality. Learning under the vast experience of T.C. Christensen has been an honor. I look forward to many more bikes to come! I hope to contribute what I can to this forums in the future.

Here's mine, subject of the "engine build prep" thread which has since morphed into a thread about the rest of the build!
Here it is as I bought it in Aug 13:

I then decided to 'tidy it up a bit' and 'take the head off for a look' ... Next thing I know its turned into a full on rebuild!

Brief spec:
Power-train: JS stage 1 cam with lightweight lifters. Beehive valve springs. JS lightweight pistons and longer Carrillo rods. Dynamically balanced crank. Belt drive with Barnet clutch pack. Tri-Spark with Accel coil. 35mm FCR carbs. Various internal components ceramic and / or Teflon coated. Comstock auto cam chain tensioner and sump reed valve breather.
Chassis: Landsdowne fork internals. 6 pot caliper with Brembo m/c. Falcon shocks. New rims & spokes, 18 rear / 19 front in correct widths for the Roadriders tires. Norman White cotter pin mod to cradle. Corbin seat. Loads of stuff from Matt at CNW.
Main suppliers of tuning parts (all top class kit): JS Motorsport, Jim Comstock, CNW. Main suppliers of general parts: RGM.
The only bad service I had was with Centrl Wheels in UK.
This is my first Commando, I liked it before the rebuild, I just hope I like it more after all this!
Anyway, here's how it looks now:
