Acquired this 1975 850 MK3 a few weeks ago. It's a 90% complete project with lots of desirable aftermarket (cNw) parts. I've been doing lot's of reading of the forum - the Google search is one of the best of any forum I've used. Hopefully have it running within a few weeks.

Mid-winter in southern Australia.
A breakfast gathering in the hills with the sun up after a clear sky 0°C night (that's about as cold as it gets in these parts).

You got a smoking deal on that bike. I kept an eye on that one on C/L. Didn't take long for it to be snatched up. Well done, as lots of $$$ spending was already done for you. I was very tempted, myself.

I'd been hunting for about 6 months and jumped on it when it turned up.

Put this together using a lot of my own production parts and a few one offs specifically for this project.
Genuine Norton parts consist of engine, tranny, 850 frame, eng mounts, strengthened swingarm, left fork slider, outer primary cover, early chainguard, fenders, stands, battery carrier Lucas 5-3/4" headlight and Lucas switch blocks.
My parts: my new rear cushdrive hub assembly, alloy brake, front replica disc hub, 320mm x 6piston brake kit, slider 1/2" M/cyl etc, alloy fork yokes,
clipon's,tank, sidecovers ,seat and taillight fairing WM3 x 19" flanged chromed alloy rims, stainless spokes. 1-1/2" stainless headers and stainless nuts.
my billet steel conrods (balanced 65%), lower left reedvalve block, rearsets, alloy fork damper tubes, inlet manifolds, air filter backing plate, Dave Taylor type head steady. rear shocks (a bit longer), dual adjusters on the tranny.
Other mods: Dunstall 810 cylinders,c/case breather mod,Comnoz reco'd head, Megacycle 560-00 cam,my billet steel rods, 33mm CRs carbs, shortened air filter,Alton Elec start,RGM belt drive in 7oz oil (mainly for the starter sprag), Daytona 1st gear set, clutch pushrod seal, TriSpark Ignition,Podtronics Reg, Harley coil ,Legendary Cycles electronic "Norton" instruments, vernier Iso's,MotoBatt battery, Leo Vince Superbike muffler shortened.
Muffler is actually mounted to the gearbox cradle ( a bit tricky)
My poor pics really dont do the bike justice, anyway it'll be a fun ride, come in at 380LBS dry

"any details or info on the swingarm strengthening mods?"
just the box section triangle gussets in the corners.

well it surely would be mighty uncomfortable even if it was possible to ride the bike while sitting in the pillion seat.
my seating position is really no different to any other Commando. My girlfriend (40kg) reckons its great.
