As received, this weekend. Headlight and brake light work, it runs and stops. Lots of patina.
Silencers are loose in the exhaust pipes and no sidestand but other than that pretty solid bike.....so far.
Going to be a total frame off resto-mod.
Will keep you posted.

If it goes, well, that looks good enough that you should consider a rolling restoration, and keep the original finish. ?
(except for those mufflers).
Completely original factory finish ones are exceeding rare. (?).
They are only original once.....
Or at least polish it up and take a photo or 2.

Yeah, it's a love/hate thing. The PR seat took me a while to get used to when I built a "yellow peril" replica. The JPN seat still "ain't doin' it for me", but it's an acquired taste, and it'll be sold, so it's for the buyer to like.

It has certain Mk2A features, such as the black plastic airbox, 'A' kickstart lever, oil junction block, and presumably the battery fits across the frame with the LH side cover secured by a Dzus fastener at the rear.
An 'A' model would also have had annular discharge (bean can) silencers/mufflers.

Hi, I'm a new member. I acquired this '71 in Aug. of last year. I'd seen it in the POs driveway for 6 yrs. never saw it move or on the streets. Saw him one morning and talked for a while about the bike and he said he was thinking about selling it; I asked how much he'd want for it and when he named his price I about fell over! I'd always wanted a Commando since I lived in SF in the 80's. Scrounged around, got the money from a few different sources and hauled it home.

Well, after the severe downsize, I'm without a garage (even something as lowly as a carport). However, there's a shed out back that measures 8' 6" X 9' 6". Had to replace the entire rotted wood floor with 1' X 1' concrete pavers. The sheet metal shed was jacked up with a bottle jack to allow the pavers to be slid under the edges to help support the shed. A couple pieces of OSB over the pavers so dropped screws won't disappear through the cracks, and we have a workshop! Power still needs to be run so that we can have some light, but it'll suffice while the head is removed for Jim to perform his magic on the exhaust threads.
There's about twelve inches total difference between the length of the Norton and the depth of the shed, so, instead of walking around the bike while working on it, I'll be vaulting back and forth over it. 'Beats working outside in the rain...
