Could be, but I'm so happy with MKII. Starts great, runs smooth, simple carb no stressful adjustment!
The Mikuni: Cold tricky but fired up after 2-3Kicks, Hot very realible start, 1 Kick, betwenn hot - cold, or Motor died direct after colkd start: A NIGHTMARE to restart! A nightmare!
I spend a lot of € and time for the setup but by the end of the day: I sold the Carb.
Good looking bike! I also have a single Amal 34. Do you have any difficulty with the throttle cable exit, at the top of the carb? There doesn't seem to be enough clearance. Mine pushes against the frame and causes the rubber manifold adaptor to sag.

No, the cable bent in an acceptebale radius. Throttle runs free. I made the cable by my own. Not so stiff as original. Maybe that is the reason haven't any issues. I will make a picture later and share with you by PN

Waiting for Lorenz to tell us more about the front brake!
Frontbrake is Double drum Grimeca I assume! Not happy with that! Loking great but I will change to Disc back!

Well spotted! Yes, looks like a BSA / Triumph conical hub.
Yes, it is a Drum Break from a T140 / T160? Triumph!
The rear and front drum were alreday assembled. Rear drum with 18" andf 120/80-18 wheel.

That would be brilliant, thanks. Mine has a stainless steel sleeve the cable runs through and it takes up too much space, be good to see the radius I could get away with. Thanks.

Here is the picture FE was looking for....I wanted to be able to take a picture of them together....the other bike is a GT500 Suzuki twin.....

Rickman has added stripes....and a few stickers, like the John Player Norton ones......I know I need bigger ones....but you can still see the difference in shade of the blues!

Very nice.

I have a solo hump for my interstate tank that was a scratch built job from the 80s, doenst look anywhere as nice but I like riding with it. Maybe I should just get it recovered.
Thanks,
It is very comfortable for me.M/C is used 3-4 times a week as the climate here is tolerable year round

even the centerstand is spotless!
There’s a lot of Matt’s stuff as well as Jim S and Jim C’s inovations
Just about done sorting things out and I’m really really pleased
The bike is a #’s matching 72
Combat that I got for my dad.
So The concept for the build was to try to make sensible upgrades and modifications that would lend itself to taking advantage of all the innovations, upgrades and sensible modifications that are available to our Norton community….without sacrificing the heart..soul and charm that makes these bikes so addictive
So I think at the end of the day I wound up with a killer Norton that now is much safer ( thanks Matt )
Completely trustworthy and reliable…with greatly improved performance ( thanks both Jim’s )
Last thing…it’s beautiful and makes me smile whether I’m riding it or rubbing on it.a few more shots of the bike and my other 71…that one is pretty special too…that is CNW # 012
After Matt worked his wizardry on it bringing it to a more current state of Norton…thanks for looking and reading
