Took a ride today down through the canyons to the coast, and took this picture at the top of Encinal Canyon Road with the Pacific Ocean in the background.

When I was over there Ken I was really surprised how good some of those canyon roads are. It put a whole new perspective on the term ‘canyon carver’ !

I'm fortunate in having so many good riding roads within a 100 mike radius. There are still a couple I haven't tried yet. The only drawback I've noticed is that they get a lot of motorcycle and sports car traffic on the weekends, but on weekdays they are great.

Spot the odd one out ? ................................. ......................yep you got it that jap bike ,all other vehicles are “ Made in England” including that 3 wheel yellow reliant , those “ Cars “ were a god send to motorcyclists of yesterday as u could drive one on a bike licence( 3 wheels , same a bike & sidecar) one of are many mad motoring laws.

I think I have seen your bike on one of the So Cal Norton rides. Hanson Dam probably? Is there any other Modern Nortons in our area?

Could have been my bike. I've ridden it at the last couple of Hanson Dam rides. Daniel Schoenwald here in Camarillo has one, which shows up at some of the So Cal rides. He had it at the Hanson Dam ride this year. He's the guy who has the large private bike collection and hosts a party at his place for the So Cal Norton club every year. There may be others, but he's the only one I know of.

150mile ride yesterday,Battle of Britain memorial site in Kent ,followed by light lunch at “ Route 1066 cafe” in East Sussex , whilst there I spoke with a guy that had put down a £500 deposit on an SE 961 10 years ago at Donington Park, when the bike was built ,Norton offered him another £1000 to forfeit the bike as they had so many people that wanted one , so he took the £1500 bung & no bike !!!!!! Funny ol business in it . [, ATTACH=full]17478[/ATTACH]

My crop of motorcycles , nothing world beating for sure. But still much fun and practical .
HD = Best Highway 75 mph comfort , two up available torque , best fuel economy at 70 mph interstate riding .
Thruxton = Easiest to ride and take daughter out on.
Norton = Most unique and lightest on its feet .

Glass House Mountains about 30 mins from my place. 200Km carving through the twisities of the Sunshine Coast hinterland on Sunday for the fun of it, she didn't miss a beat. Could ride around all day without crossing the same piece of tarmac, with views like this - feeling kinda lucky! This is winter by the way!! :D. Time for a beer!

Midweek ride through the hinterland with my (also retired) riding buddy, whilst the wife is at work! Almost feels like a guilty pleasure!

Bike is running beautifully, less the occasional failure to start first time. Like the bike is saying “don’t get cocky, I’m still high maintenance.”

Awesome ride, awesome bike!

Long live Norton
