I love my Joe, the integrated visor works as well as any full face helmet i've had and I can still have a paur of tinted goggle on it ready for when the sun makes an appearance. There is something about Shoei and the shape of my head, they just fit like a glove, so my other two full face are both Shoei Ryd's, matt black and tangerine.... simple, classic and looks good on any bike.

Im just a sucker for the flag, Flag, Ace Cafe, need I say no more.....SOLD to the pommy guy....

That aluminum tank is beautifull! Is the factory option the only way to go for one of these?

Usually they don't wait 'till you get your helmet off before they ask "What's it like to ride?" :) (SportsBikeShop bike night last Tuesday)

On this occasion the guy on the Yamaha to my left followed me in for the last 5 miles and when we pulled up he gave me the thumbs up, I can only think that was for the sound eminating from the shorts and not for my choice of helmet :)

I think so, unless you are lucky enough to live close by to a workshop that can hand craft tanks. We still have a couple of small companies in the UK that hand craft alloy tanks, I have seen a couple of U.S. companies too, but the waiting list can be painfully long even for the more common tanks, and they would probably want a bike and/or a tank from which to craft a template for the 961 and that would significantly add to the price. I was lucky, got mine second hand, it still cost me an arm and a leg but at least I got to keep my kidneys lol

Looking forward to your riding impressions...
Won't go into detail here as it is s 961 forum but I can now fully appreciate the 961 Sport riding position as I think it must be very similar and a pleasure after decades of feet forward, low rider or cafe racer setups :) The FTR has oodles of potential yet to be unleashed, I will keep it at that lol

Day1 100 miles, standard riding mode, kept below 4k rpm, fast A roads, gentle sweeping bends.... nice!
Day2 100 miles, sport mode, kept below 4.5k rpm with the occasional burst up to 5k, country B roads, tight and twisty.... this thing is a monster, it does NOT appreciate a delicate throttle, every bump in the road affects throttle hand and engine instantly reacts, result is a very snatchy ride with far more engine braking or accelerating than i've been used to... I think I prefer running the 961 in !!! The only way to ride this thing is hard and keep it high up in the rev band, a commuter it isn't! I need to get the running in done as quick as possible. I can appreciate the 961 Sport riding position now, think this must be quite similar.
Far too hot for any more riding plus upstairs bathroom sprung a leak so been busy, busy, busy. I bought a low mileage Mini Countryman Cooper SD at the same time, now that is nice, I can tell you all about that if you want... lol

Aha, it worked!

The Injun sounds interesting! Please keep us posted as you accrue miles and familiarity. Have you got mods planned for after it’s run in, pipes, de cat, etc?

Ref your other toy... http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/ ;)
