Pictures of your Norton 961

Very cool pics Cliffa! Your 2011 Sport must be the oldest bike on the site - looking at the gearbox configuration? I don’t see it listed on the mileage thread; how is it going in the mileage and maintainance stakes? She’s looking pretty good in those surroundings! :)

Thanks Stephen,
yep it's an old one alright. It had 34,000 Km on the clock when I bought it in December, and had just had a full service and new tyres. It's runs really well but mechanically noisy under load. (to be investigated further). It had the early reverse gear lever on it when I got it, but that feels a bit wierd when you change up as the lever also wants to travel along your foot as it moves up, so I converted it myself copying the factory setup. Obviously without internal changes it reverses the shift pattern to a "race' style but having had it like that a while I'm not sure I like that either. I now have 5 bikes with 3 differing shift patterns which does lead to the occasional mistake. I love riding it though, and it has been my bike of choice so far this year.

Five bikes, three shift patterns? I’d be permanently confused! I’m screwed with two cars with indicator stalks on different sides of the column - hit the wipers every time:rolleyes:!

Guess that you’ve had access to other 961‘s to compare that ‘mechanical noise’ to Cliffa? As we know they all exhibit quite a lot of mechanical noise - quite a few threads on this forum covering the subject. Seem to remember someone likening the noise of the engine to the sound of a mechanical paint tin mixer over 6000 revs!! Awesome machine though - definitely a lifelong keeper for me!

Monday’s a riding day atm , nipped to Richborough Castle for a look around again , that wall was built in around 275AD by the Romans to keep out Saxon raiders .
40,000 of them rolled up 2000 years ago ( the Romans) with 900 ships & whole bunch of war elephants, but today just 6 old geysers on bikes to soak up the ambiance of place

Was this today? We had snow! Not been here, so will have to have a look at some point! So you didn't feel like doing a bit of castle storming then? Love some of the castles in Kent. Bodium still my favorite!

Well this one is actually ruins of the castle, so u do need an imagination, but the place is getting more funding to illustrate more , as u all know when out for a ride u need somewhere to go of interest , drink eat & refuel , usually do 100/150 Miles on a Monday, but only 45 today . Can highly recommended a prebooked tour at this place, will put Bodium on the list
