Gorgeous bike. Just a question, not to be nitpicky, Nigel, With all that black, you don't think a black oil cooler would have matched a little better? Or did you prefer the contrast and the match to the engine?

Well, I had exactly the same thoughts, in the end I just let it be!

But, I think I’ll keep it as is, it’s quite nicely made, with very good exposed welds etc. It looks after market, kinda hot rod-ish. If I painted it black, it’d just look lIke a Yamahonduki OEM job.

And, it does compliment the alloyness of that big lump of an engine !

The 750 and 850 were the inspiration for the new Commando.
Dreer intended to preserve the Norton "family resemblance."

It isn't 'real' until after the first ride...

Do I spy smoked brake and clutch reservoirs there Mark?

Where dya get them from?
Fleabay/Germany, not cheap but the cheapest I could find. On the plus side the post was very quick. Seller was lxs-motorbike_de, I can send you the link if you can't locate. Triumph/Ducati also use them as std so keep an eye out for used ones as they often get swapped for billet.

Edit: They are Brembo and same size/capacity/mount as the clear

Having talked to factory tech guy at the recent London show, he said oil coolers can be supplied in silver or black ( for the anniversary models which we were discussing at the time) , but since he said everything is built to order, I expect that may well apply to any 961. He said the ABS is supplied by Continental( read Siemens), and they currently use at least one NGK engine sensor. As they leave the factory, the fuelling has to be set to pass emissions tests from a COLD start ( running lean) so he leaves his to idle for a few minutes before riding. Obviously, this can be altered later. He said the major engine clatter is from the straight cut primary gears, and no immediate plans to change these. On the anniversary models they have put different finishes on the fork stanchions and shocks, which gives more and better looking options.

This was a fun day. It's my current screen saver. Thought I'd share. This was a MODS & ROCKEERS event hosted by Town Moto Toronto.
