New laws in Australia gone mad

Modern 'policing' is all about extracting maximum payola out of the motoring public.
So doubtful you'd get away with that today - with defective brakes.
Tow truck time ??

1940 Ford Mercury might get you a bit of interest though.
No motorcycle content ere though...

Sometimes the police here can be interesting. I was on my way to Narrandera, about 850 odd km from sunny Adelaide, in my MGB GT. Got stopped in Ouyen, nearly halfway, at a roadside breath testing station, it was around mid day. I blew into the machine and the policeman said "pull over there, please", so I did. He came up and said he had an MGB and was having a problem with his carbs, had I had the same problem?? I had and showed him my cure for the problem. We had a good chat, I had a cup of coffee from my flask and went on my way!!
Despite the old song coppers aren't all barstewards.
cheers
wakeup

That's not my experience with Australian Police. I've never talked my way out of a ticket

This post is getting better.

Many years ago I overtook an unmarked police car in my favourite esses on a very noisy 750

Cop pulls me over and says "Why did you go past us, we were doing the limit"

I said "officer, why do men climb mountains ?. Because they are there."

When he and his mate stopped laughing he said "just F--k off and don't let me see you speeding, ever".

It does happen.

Rohan, The police put a yellow unroadworthy sticker on the windscreen of the Mercury which meant it I could take it home and fix it, then take it to a police station with a receipt from the repairer and have the sticker removed. I think I simply adjusted the brakes and took it to our local where I knew the cop and he immediately removed it. That guy used to be on the beat around our suburb in the fifties when lots of kids were bodgies and widgies. He was more of a social worker than a policeman however he was a vey tough man. He would never bash you however he would walk up to you in the street standing on your feet as he backed you up against the fence. He became a family friend - my father used to associate with him in the local pub, and I think my father actually gave him part time work on his days off , which was prohibited for the police in those days.

The new anti-bikie laws have come about primarily in Queensland because a couple of police were shot up there by gang members, the public punch-up was just an excuse. Our police seem to get upset when their guys get killed. The association been the gangs and drugs has long been recognized in all states, and this latest has caused police integrity branches to fire up. These latest laws have nothing to do with anyone who is straight, however the bikie gangs would like us to think we will all be stopped and questioned. One thing we love to do in political Australia is invent a problem, and generate paranoia. We use Eddie Bernays technique and present ourselves as the solution. Does that ever happen in America ? - we learn from you guys.

'The system runs on bullshit' !! When you can recognise Eddie Bernays's techniques this stuff becomes insulting.

About the same as anywhere else, but with more guns..........................

New laws in Australia gone mad

It could become very funny in our federal parliament today. It looks as though a lot of deceit is about to be challenged very openly, and the media have become very pissed off with a few guys who've been trying to operate in secrecy. It is a comedy in the making.

Alan if you ain't listened to the Corvette saga it will be impossible to tell the actual parties AU's 'parlament' actually represent and what rules apply to determine graft and greed the people always get the bad deal to suffer. The basic fraud is the fractional usury money system that is based on debt-loans-credit-faith with interest, not substance, but there is never enough credits created by the loans to pay back the interest so bankrupcy and foreclosure of real people at all levels is built into the system so must always crash. Greed and graft are part and parcel of the political process, sort of tickle down from Central Banksters example and w/o being a legit Gov't the people at large are cut out of the action and don't understand how things got so out of their control. This does affect the price of gas and what ya can protect yourself with in legal of physical confronts.

This seems to be complete rubbish.
Perhaps you can supply some details to back up this claim ??

Man, I've really got to digress here and ask what your beef with Acotrel is. Every blessed thing he says you jump down his neck on. Give it a break will you please.

Perhaps you haven't noticed it, but every ? post, he throws in some snippet of complete rubbish.
Perhaps he is not aware of it - may even believe every single thing he says is the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

But for folks still with sharp minds, it really grates.
And folks reading here later on may well and truly be led up the garden path...

I am also currently in Qld, and there sure haven't been any mention of bikies shooting up the police.
They'd be in there with all guns blazing if it had happened, believe me.
I had a minor run-in with an undercover cop, and the crap that came from that showed what they are truly capable of....

There is also the minor matter that we are here on a COMMANDO forum, and someone here has never actually ridden a Commando.
Doesn't stop the opinions and "I believe'"s .....

How can someone constantly rubbish something with isolastics, when they've never ridden one. ?!
And were apparently not aware the race bikes had iso's either...

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
But if it is complete made-up nonsense, should it just go unchallenged here ??

Part of my job in a former life, with a large computer co, was proof-reading all docos that customers got.
Any poor or ambiguous writing there was sure noticed by customers - who sued us if anything bad happened. !
So we took great care that everything issued was bullet-proof - and my role added to that.
Some things you just can't turn off...

P.S. We used to have a saying in the computer industry.
"If you don't know what you are talking about, keep your mouth well and truly SHUT."
This tends to stifle discussion somewhat, but ensures what is said is reliable, accurate, informative and trustworthy....

I also wondered what was happening between Rohan and Acotrel, we are all intited to a comment on this form, I like to read what both of you have to say, but when it starts to be come a personal attact between the both of you its starts to get a bit annoying, wheather Acotrel has ridden or owned a Commando should not matter, it is a open form and should be able to have a say.

Ashley

Here! Here! Whether the news we get is from the conservative backed Murdock media, by any forum, or by word of Mouth.
We all have a right to say what we want ( with in reason ), just as Murdock does to tell us how to live and what he wants us to think!

If Aco has info that the Qld police don't know about, about their members being shot at, then we are all sitting on the edge of our seats waiting to hear about it.
Only don't forget to breathe, we might be waiting a long time.
And, don't forget, Aco is more than 1000 miles away...

When he hasn't even ridden one, and starts with "I believe" than trots out half a load of old tosh,
are we not entitled to correct the rubbish bits - and point out that it is rubbish. ??
Particularly when its consistently done, not just now and then.

Some other forums have a 'feedback' or 'kudos' rating - folks who regularly post nonsense soon show in their numbers,
and you know their info is sometimes/often/never/always unreliable.

I may be the forum's dullard but do catch the disparaging to ignorant isolastic Commando remarks by Alan, but he's useful-interesting informative on Norton power plants and real race antics of a rigid Seeley that is accepted in the Commando only area. I look up to and learn from both of ya, so its mood breaking to sting each other routinely and confuses the rest of us on how not to be siding with either of ya. Rohan you may not know what ya missing out on a Sleeley and I know Alan is missing out creaming in his leathers by the multiple road orgasms a tri-linked isolastic Roadholer So Smooth and Secure it takes ya breath away and faster then sense of fear so eagerly aiming the flying baby buggy Magic Carpet anywhere ya like coming out a sharpie for the different tingles of climaxes taking the turn this way and that wanting it to be crowded with slow rolling parking lot cones to add some random thrills to otherwise low effort routine predicable G flings. Ever feel like a gun slinger tired of just shooting asprin tablets out the air...

Over all world picture looks like a Sci Fi Horror film let loose on us. When Big Gov's/Banks/Corps want to shut some group down be it a gang or a political party or bussines or indigenous natives, they have have done so and just get better at it all the time. There were long ago laws and penalties that covered acts that hurt people or property. To create a new law with Zero tolerance has nothing to do with solving people and property crimes but everything to do with controlling the most independent free thinking sections of society. One of the fundamental Natural Rights of "people" [not licensed PERSONS] is to travel to gather to help themselves or to help or hurt others. Real people know random stops will do nothing to criminals but maybe catch a very few with warrants, but if warrants was the reason they'd be stopping everyone everywhere. [likely too soon] People who are citizens / residents of a Gov/STATE have taken on an artificial Corporate Legal Person status so tend to be treated as all the same Gov't Issue one size and label fits all. Guilty as labeled good luck proving innocence in funny legal system that only goes by applied vague definitions, not in your favor at all.

This transformation out of natural and common sense rights was done by fraud and force w/o most folks even realizing. All sovereignty is based on brute force success then constantly in presence & enforced, not the people-persons at large. We were taught in old school the Police were reasonable Peace Officers, in current fool system TV they are mean legalistic Law Enforcement. Not much happens in US to Police and SWAT Teams too common deadly mistakes. Heck in US criminals that put much the nation out of business and create desperate conditions that helps makes crime pay, get bonuses. If voting mattered they outlaw it, if mis counts in the hen house don't fix it.

The popo/pigs knew dam well the funeral was mostly good people but following orders to find someone to show the new law works, so broke/ignored their own Statues/Code & announced policy that if alerted prior no problemo, as there is very little the little people can do to get Gov Agents to even follow their own Codes. Spirit of the Times.

Here's doing the funny math on this in US.

1. Teaching Maths In 1970
A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100..
His cost of production is 4/5 of the price.
What is his profit?

2. Teaching Maths In 1980
A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100.
His cost of production is 80% of the price.
What is his profit?

3. Teaching Maths In 1990
A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100.
His cost of production is £80.
How much was his profit?

4. Teaching Maths In 2000
A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100.
His cost of production is £80 and his profit is £20.
Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

5. Teaching Maths In 2005
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habit of animals or the preservation of our woodlands.
Your assignment: Discuss how the birds and squirrels might feel as the logger cut down their homes just for a measly profit of £20.

6. Teaching Maths In 2009
A logger is arrested for trying to cut down a tree in case it may be offensive to Muslims or other religious groups not consulted in the application for the felling license. He is also fined a £100 as his chainsaw is in breach of Health and Safety legislation as it deemed too dangerous and could cut something.. He has used the chainsaw for over 20 years without incident however he does not have the correct certificate of competence and is therefore considered to be a recidivist and habitual criminal. His DNA is sampled and his details circulated throughout all government agencies. He protests and is taken to court and fined another £100 because he is such an easy target.

When he is released he returns to find Gypsies have cut down half his wood to build a camp on his land. He tries to throw them off but is arrested, prosecuted for harassing an ethnic minority, imprisoned and fined a further £100. While he is in jail again the Gypsies cut down the rest of his wood and sell it on the black market for £100 cash. They also have a departure BBQ of squirrel and pheasant and leave behind several tonnes of rubbish and asbestos sheeting.

The forester on release is warned that failure to clear the fly tipped rubbish immediately at his own cost is an offense. He complains and is arrested for environmental pollution, breach of the peace and invoiced £12,000 plus VAT for safe disposal costs by a regulated government contractor.

Your assignment: How many times is the logger going to have to be arrested and fined before he realises that he is never going to make £20 profit by hard work, give up, sign onto the dole and live off the state for the rest of his life?

7. Teaching Maths In 2010
A logger doesn’t sell a lorry load of timber because he can’t get a loan to buy a new lorry because his bank has spent all his and their money on a derivative of securities debt related to sub-prime mortgages in Alabama and lost the lot, with only some government money left to pay a few million-pound bonuses to their senior directors and the traders who made the biggest losses.

The logger struggles to pay the £1,200 road tax on his old lorry. However, as it was built in the 1970s it no longer meets the emissions regulations and he is forced to scrap it.

Some Bulgarian loggers buy the lorry from the scrap merchant and put it back on the road. They undercut everyone on price for haulage and send their cash back home, while claiming unemployment for themselves and their relatives. If questioned they speak no English and it is easier to deport them at the governments expense. Following their holiday back home they return to the UK with different names and fresh girls and start again. The logger protests, is accused of being a bigoted racist and as his name is on the side of his old lorry he is forced to pay £1,500 registration fees as a gang master.

The Government borrows more money to pay more to the bankers as bonuses are not cheap. The parliamentarians feel they are missing out and claim the difference on expenses and allowances.
You do the maths.

There is nothing wrong with asking questions Steve - its how we often ALL learn a lot.
But presenting it as 'fact' is a whole 'nother matter.

But now we are REALLY straying from the topic ?!
I've worked in the middle east, and you have to be very careful even translating their numbers into 'english'.
Quite apart from that they write right to left.
Ever met an arabic typewriter ?!

Someone did something very basic from arabic numerals, and it was so far out it wasn't even funny.
Then we discovered that someone who worked on it didn't know that the big symbol that sorta looks like a zero is a five in Arabic. !
