There is also a difference between how much you can put in and how much the pump can get to before running out. If it doesn't splash out on the tank and if I am on a trip , I will fill it up. I am still hoping for 19 liters in my tank , I asked TAB to maximize my volume if possible !Just squeezed another 1.5 litres in, taking it to 17.5 litre from empty. Personally, I'm uncomfortable at having a tank that full. I'd say 17ltr to fill. Has anyone actually measured the Norton tanks properly, instead of just going on the sales brochures?
You think or know the plastic tank is 3.5 usg? To me it doesn’t look hardly any bigger than the aluminum tank. I never fill my tank to the brim, about 2” or slightly less from the top for me3.5 USG usable (barely) . You better be pulling into a gas station right then ! But Norton claimed 17.5 Liters 4.5 USG.
Norton say the tank in 17.5 liters , it may hold 17.5 liters when fully empty. But you will never be able to access anywhere near that much before starving the pump when riding. About 3.5 gallons is all I am willing to use before getting gas. (This is the point) . When I ran out of gas the first time with the 961 , I could see gas at the very bottom of the tank . So , the Norton Aluminum tank holds approximately 2 liters more gas than the plastic tank , based on others observations like (mxmartin) . I do not know how much gas is accessible on a Aluminum Tank , hopefully at least 2 liters more. You think or know the plastic tank is 3.5 usg? But you still can’t pass a gas station with either tank. Even if you had an aluminum tank why risk running out ?Norton say the tank in 17.5 liters , it may hold 17.5 liters when fully empty. I keep my bikes clean but also don't mind a bit of wear and tear - patina they call it. I was talkin with Blightybrit yesterday 'bout blued & coloured zoorst headers - I luv 'em, some hate 'em.Maintenance is as hard as you make it, and to what standard you want the tank to stay in. If you're trying to keep it completely scratch free, looking fresh off the polishing wheel, then it can be a bitch. Some all over wear and tear looks nice on some applications.
I thought I had my mind set on the paint finish I was going for....but now Im thinking of full manx silver. I'll probably change my mind again by this afternoon.
Imagine all the beer and metal you'd need to fix that!Gonna polish mine until it rivals the face of the sun!
Patina? You’re making me come out in a rash!
I like beer, and motorcycles, and maybe three people - possibly!Imagine all the beer and metal you'd need to fix that!

I challenge the forum to grab your favourite beer, sit comfortably looking at your Norton and listen to Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath. Go on, I dare you!
@Stephen_Spencer based on the YEN they want for that tank, it will be interesting.....Does anybody else think that this frame extension kit and exhaust setup is smokin‘ hot!? Or is it just me? Also achieves getting rid of the rear foot peg hangers and revealing more of those sexy carbon (or wire) wheels.

I’m gonna try and find out a price, but don’t tell the wife!

You will gain ground clearance for your turns with those pipes I think.@Stephen_Spencer based on the YEN they want for that tank, it will be interesting.....
I like the passenger peg eliminator hangers, and the pipes look tucked in and slightly higher set for better corning clearance.Does anybody else think that this frame extension kit and exhaust setup is smokin‘ hot!? @Stephen_Spencer you know a Delta would be cheaperAll good points and in the eye of the beholder of course. I think the system has been very well thought out. Maybe not as aesthetically pleasing for higher bar variants but for the more aggressive stance of the Cafe Racer perhaps?
I like the way the exhaust terminates at the visual junction of the rear shock and chain guard and that the silencer is routed parallel to the rear frame tube - can end arching slightly like the tail unit. These shapes are pleasing to the eye. Sounds pretty sweet too.
Not going to run out and buy them because they are likely very expensive, but I really like to see any firm spending money to produce aftermarket parts for the 961.
