Hey!

I'm thinking about getting a TAB Classics alloy tank for my CR. Does anyone have any tips/thoughts/etc? Also, they come polished but I would obviously need decals....where is the best place to source these?

Lastly, can anyone recommend a place to get it finished like this one???

Thanks in advance

That's Stu Bodycotes bike . Contact Stu at Motorvated ?

Hey Kev,

The TAB tanks are a great option, hand crafted and completely authentic.

There are a few traditional based options for decals/paint jobs.

- Norton logo only, which you can have printed anywhere that isn’t too worried about copyright - PDF file is available in the ‘Resources’ area (or purchase as part of the below set). Many prefer logo only - I’m running that currently.

- Norton logo and pinstripe with no infill colour; details here.

These options are based around the original colour scheme on the black 961 tank, which are different to those of the original silver painted tank - some prefer the more extended silver tank decal. Your choice of course.

I intend to try a few decal options over time until I decide my preference, then I’ll have the tank professionally painted like Stu’s bike above. I think Stu used Dream Machine - they’ve been operating since I was a lad and have got to be one of the best in the business. They’ll produce anything you want - traditional or not.

Amazing! Thank you for taking the time to do that! Appreciate your help

I know @Stu Bodycote fits an alloy strap between the two mounting screws to stop any flex when the tank is full. It’s worth considering in my opinion, and certainly can’t do any harm.

The underbrace is a solution that Tab & myself came up with, so each Tab tank comes supplied with an underbrace.
Dream Machine is who I used for the paintwork on my Domi, for two reasons ie they're 20min from my door and they used to do all the paint work for Norton.

Thanks all

RE: the strap, I spotted that on the TAB website in one of the pics

So are TAB able to deliver Norton tanks at the moment? As my 961 was intended as a long-term keep I always thought that at some point I would have to replace a bubbled tank with an alloy one. And now that Esso Supreme Plus now has ethanol in it I think it's time to start dropping pennies into my Alloy Tank piggy bank. And I actually like the current 'modern' flush filler - do we know if they could supply with that option? Just wondering - it's a bit early to start bothering TAB with questions.

Ok just read other thread looks like the last one is a no

Why not just contact Tab directly?

Richard is TAB’s main technical guy Clive. He’ll be able to let you know what is and isn’t possible. He’s very approachable/helpful.

What was the lead time to delivery?

Assume it's just a straight swap?

Wee video of the installation would be AMAZING!

Aline and Richard dropped in to mine today with a van full of tanks. Trial fitted them and they've taken them back to Wales with them, looking to just fine tune the clearance at the front near to the wiring harness etc.
They also dropped off an auxiliary fuel cell that I requested they knocked up for me. I really wasn't expecting it to be polished up like this though ....looks real bling 😎
This will allow me to run bikes up without the tank fitted, 961's and V4's.....which is a huge help for me in the workshop. I just need to fit up a fuel pump and make up an extended fuel line, wiring harness and earth strap. The legs detach, so I can either have it stand alone, or sat on a bench etc. Great tool...dead chuffed.

That's awesome!

Assume if they have a van full, lead times will be fairly short?
