Gentleman a sample tank (care of a very benevolent forum member) is now on its way by courier to TAB Classics for the purpose of taking the required tooling moulds.

Sorry for the apparent lack of activity guys.
The sample tank is still enroute from Germany to Tab.
Probably just caught up in christmas/new year shipping backlog.

I feel a little explanation is due as to why things have gone quiet.
Well......
A stalwart member of this forum volunteered his spare tank to TAB Classics as a mould buck.

On the 18 December last year he dutifully packaged up his tank and sent it by "Deusche Post Paket" from Germany to Wales.

On 30/12/19 the tracking stalled showing it is/was about to leave Hamburg (or had already left) it still says this today.

We are hot on the case from both sides of the channel but up to now the response from Deusche Post can only be described as utter shite!

I'll share again when I know more

Deusche Post are DHL and are the worst couriers, even beating Hermes, good luck with tracking down the parcel. A German company took the company I worked for over and forced us to use them as they had a 'Special Deal', the experiences we had after only 1 month caused us to drop them, despite repeated instructions to reuse them, even after we documented all the issues, we refused. One dropped pallet delivery cost us £8000, the German parent company was involved and even they could not get the money back from DHL.

Ferreteer,
Thank you for the update. Keep in mind, you're dealing with Norton owners. If nothing else, we're patient and very accustomed to waiting.

Charlie

We also have a strong streak of masochism, otherwise we would all have replaced our Nortons with sensible Hondas years ago.:p

Haha, this is true. I still struggle with the idea of selling mine although its caused me a number of issues.

Let's offer Deusche Post a ransom for the early release of the package.
I hope the forum member who shipped the package paid for insurance, it may be needed.;)

Progress!
A second plastic tank is now in the hands of the makers who have asked if I can now source a fuel pump to measure for dimensional accuracy when reverse engineering the 15mm plate in the base of the tank.

Any UK members got a dead pump to donate to the cause? Even if you have a spare good one they will return it after carefully measuring it. Please get in touch with me ASAP if you can help.

Incidentally After umpteen emails from either side of the channel and eventually direct threats of reporting to OFCOM, Deutsche-post eventually coughed out an apology last week admitting that the tank was physically in the USA! They have outlined a rectification plan but in my opinion it is too little and way way too late bearing in mind it went into their system on 18th December last year.

After having researched the documented Douche-post issues others have had, we feel our experience is indicative of the fight anyone would have with them if something goes awry. Clearly all large couriers will lose parcels almost every day that's just the business they are in. The true mark of a quality company however; is how they deal with their customers when this happens.

Douche-post? Null Punkte!

The problem i've experienced with parcels from Germany is that Deutsche-Post haul the parcel to the Continental ports/airline then hand over to a third party courier of the country of destination. In the good old days of handgun ownership I had a Walther pistol sent from Germany then handed over to Yodel who dumped it over a neighbours hedge and falsified the signature, it took me two weeks to trace that parcel and I was frantic to say the least.

If it was a PPK I assume as well as being frantic you were also shaken but not stirred?
