961 with Alloy Tank

& here’s a bit of old & new , this Naked Beauty was in the factory showroom b4 Xmas awaiting a new home,this older polished Norton was a real scorcher,& like Fast Eddie says about his new stable mate “picture does not do it justice & it’s better in the flesh “,I took this pic in the pits at Brands Hatch circuit in Kent UK last October at the last classic race of the season

Question for yer: How do you prevent the gold stripes from being polished off of the alloy tank?

Now this almost “ Naked “ model was in the London Soho clothing shop ,tank wrapped in cling film Pro longing the moment when some poor sod will have to polish it, then the front view of that lush classic Norton racer,breathtaking detail

That is a beautiful pair of tanks ! But that polished tank just will not be denied the prize .. Question for anyone , Will Norton supply the tank with gold logo anymore ?

Just work around them.
I only use mothers aluminum polish 1 or 2 times a year. After each ride I just use a micro fiber towel and WD40 to wipe it down. I’m very ocd so I kinda go over board with the cleaning. But as I said after each ride before I park it for the day I just go over everything with a little WD40. Works great. Takes me about 10-20 minutes to go over the whole bike. I enjoy keeping it clean as much as I enjoy riding them both.

I had to beg them to do the gold for me. All aluminum tanks come with just the black “Norton “ lettering, not the stripe.

Email Clem in sales at the factory directly for something this big / expensive, based on my experience, if it’s possible, they’ll do it, no fuss!

I have the polished ally tank on my Dominator. I put 3M helicopter tape on the tank where it meets the seat. It's clear protective tape and stops your belt or jacket zip from scratching the soft tank. Easy to peel off and put another on if it gets damaged. You hardly notice it when its on.
I still managed to scratch the tank when manoeuvring it about the garage :-(
