72 750 Combat Roadster project

Thanks gortnipper- I get the copy and paste bit but the full url does not display on my Mac - how do I get it to do so ?

I’d get some stencils from Matt at cNw, similar style lettering but smaller. Subtle and tasteful.

I’d be careful with the stripes. IMHO it’s a very fine line between tasteful and ‘showman’s caravan’...

Agreed Fast Eddy - I think when it is in paint rather than the gaudy Mylar tape it will tone down - May reduce line width to 1/16 “ as well -

I'd keep that one in the house because I just know it couldn't be capable of leaking oil. Housebroken unlike mine.

In the garage, right next to the Duc. But, the door from the garage to the kitchen/family room is always open and I can see it through the wifes/kids detritus from the couch.

I give thanks many times daily that my kids are grown. I could survive another Norton but not more kids. They are the true challenge of one's patience..... Friend had his collection in his home... Now dementia has taken him away.

I'm finding it harder and harder to deal with my kids age 9 and 14; I know I should be stricter in some situations (internal / at-home, NOT in public / school), but I'm getting to be an old softie.

I should have more time to do stuff I want to do, ride, goof off in the garage, hang out with friends, but here I am still driving them to school, helping with meal prep and around the house, taking them to after-school activities, etc. Hey, I volunteered for this gig, I can't complain... but DEFINITELY no more kids; I'll be 72 when my son graduates from high school...

Hi Richard,

Your motorcycle looks fantastic!!! What process do you use for polishing your stainless bolts?

Cheers,
Gatsby

Hi Gatsby - Thanks for the compliments. I first dome the bolt heads on the lathe ( see post # 19 on page one of this thread )
While in the lathe chuck the tooling marks are taken down with a file and then
600 grit silicone carbide wet or dry paper lubricated with WD 40 and backed with soft rubber sanding block.
First stage on the buffer is sisal wheel and emery compound and then finished with loose cotton flannel wheel and white rouge compound. BE CAREFUL with the cotton flannel wheel - it wants to grab everything in sight . All the buffing tools & materials are available from Eastwood Automotive among others.

got no kids (that I know of) never missed having them wife didn't want any brats either we are free as birds and look 20 years younger than our age hahaha

I still remember the day my then 8 yo daughter and her friends wrapped my pristine original paint SR500 tank in aluminum foil. Hundreds of tiny scratches. Oh well. There isn’t a motorcycle ever made as important as she is.

Surprised you have not discovered the polishing wheels that are used in a Dremel, not much to grab with these small wheels.

Attaboy Ben ! +1 on the love your kids . I’ve got two beautiful daughters - 33 and 29 . I couldn’t imagine life without them.
All rosy until one day the enemy - boys - tries to invade your fortress. Funny how the rules of engagement change from when I was invading someone else’s fortress as a young man .
Do as I say - not as I do.;)

Roger that Rick. Charlotte is 20 now and my step daughter Isabel is also. I’ve wanted to shoot at least one suitor. Do you think the 72 will be ready for the National?
