Received the new harness from British Wiring and find it perfect duplication of the original harness for 1967 Norton P11. Quality is very high, attention to detail is great! I ordered more supplies right away to add front brake switch and maybe some added lighting. No front brake light in this harness. It is a true duplicate of the original harness, flag connector, tab connectors, ring connetions, tape wound harness with sleeving in just one area, Lucas plugs , etc.
Here it is with some P11 electrical components fitted .
lower, unmarked wires fit the rear brake light switch
All of the wires are the correct colors with correct striping! Excellent!
This harness is sold as - Norton 650 Mercury & P11 Main Harness (MC30PP)

There three or more small harnesses that plug into this main harness-
Tail/stop 2 wire
Kill button 2 wire
Hi/Lo/Horn button switch 4 wire
Headlight 3 wire
Park light 1 wire

Looking at sealing the timing side of a P11, I looked at posts on this forum Commandos and found following:

Note - Later, thicker Commando type timing cover gasket [06-1092] is recommended for use on all 500-850 twins, but MUST be used in conjunction with oil pump gasket 06-2447 to ensure correct positioning of the oil pump vs timing cover.
Timing Cover all yrs, p/n 06-1092
Oil Pump all yrs, p/n 06-2447
Oil Junction block all yrs p/n 03-2044

Is this information good for P11?
This post info appears to be addressing three gaskets. Between what components do these gasket go? Timing cover is self explaining, but the others?

I looked up all three gaskets on Ebay and it becomes clear that adding a gasket at timing cover requires you move the oil pump out with gasket 06-2447.....not sure why the oil junction 03-2044 is in this revision?

Bill, I'm not sure if you saw my request on the AjS/Matchless page for some measurements of the rear wheel spacers. If you are too busy or fed up with my constant requests never mind, you have already helped me a lot so I owe you a beer regardless.

On these hybrid bikes, are all fasteners of the whitworth / british standard variety?
While you might find a couple obscure threads, on Smiths instruments, in general the threads are - BSF, BSW, BSCycle - CEI, BA and BSP threads.
So a good British thread gage is a must.
British tools has a great website - http://www.britishfasteners.com/
These hybrids, without usable IPBs in the parts manual, make this thread challenge very prominent, be careful.
Screwed up threads, by quick fix owners, are British motorcycles/cars biggest fear.

This transfer 030517 is listed as a part for the P11 front forks. Can anyone explain, with a period photo, where this small 1" transfer was placed?
Matchless photo? Norton photo?

Can't help you with that one. The only transfers I know of for the front forks are the 'Teledraulic' ones.

I put that small 'Made in England' decal on the instrument perch, just above the light switch.

Thanks Bill, Yes I had seen that decal placement on 128980 Ebay photos. It would be desirable to document the decal use anywhere in period photos. On any bike.
this shows reverse printing..... black letters on gold

That's where I have mine, and my clocks are opposite that photo. My Ranger is with 10 digits of that one on ebay, not that it means anything.

+1
Clocks should be opposite to that,
the tacho cable isn't usually long enough to do it any other way.

?

Yes , I see all hybrid speedos to the left.
128980 sold from Australia no too long ago.

Pretty much all Nortons had the tacho on the right,
if the tacho drive was on the rhs,
the cable length doesn't allow anything else ?

Unless someone has made a special effort to find a longer cable..

I went out and looked again at my tank badge holes.
One nice tank, one unrestored.
probed threaded holes with a pointed shaft, it goes in about .50"
threads are 3BA

All these repro seats seem to come without rubber inserts. When Ebay vendor is asked, they go blank or ask me for a part number. What is supposed to go in seat loops? These loops are not what is on my beat up seat, I have rubber blocks attached to seat bottom.Cheers

There are two small rubber bushes that go in there . Walridge sells them if you give the part number.

Yes I purchased a set from Walridge Motors this spring. Part number 21851, which goes to 06-7790
Priced at $11.99 X2

Pretty basic query , forgot to take a photo on disaasssembling - can anyone put a photo of front wheel assy (brake side) showing correct mount of anchor etc?

Pretty sure i have it right but just want to be sure.

One further one , on dissassembling my engine (a while ago now), i discovered the attached metal plate, which looks a lot like a prevous owners sins.....(between primary case and crankcase). I have replaced with gaskets but thought i would ask, anyone seen anything similar on a p11 before?
