"A NEW NORTON IS COMING
M A K E S P A C E.
It’s time for an evolution.
A modern incarnation of the past.
A new Norton.
The latest V4 derivative is soon to be revealed...
Check your emails on Thursday 2nd December, because you won’t want to miss this.

The Norton Team"

The next new Norton...

Looks perhaps like a "retro" naked cafe version of the V4 with clip-ons.
Was hoping for a hair on fire, hooligan with low bars, and old man ergos.

What makes the bread and butter at Triumph factory, is the return of the old classic models. The market is there. Royal Enfield followed that track successfully. A new V4 Norton is going to crash (again) in the wall.....:(

There is certainly a niche for classic models, but a sound V4 engine that can be packaged into a sportbike, adventure bike, touring bike, and a hair on fire hooligan bike is the kind of thing Norton need.
A classic model will never fulfill that need, or draw in that kind of sales revenue from young riders.

If it's 'naked' then that seems the best choice, though can we have such an 'aggressive' moniker in this day and age??

Yeah, "Combat Carbon" V4 would be more PC/woke.
The tank badge would be a snowflake.
I just hope they're correct that "The latest V4 derivative is soon to be revealed..." and not reviled.

I ask out of ignorance, not to sh*t stir.... but, did the 961? Because it still has it's devotees, regardless..
That’s a good question.

It really depends how you look at it. In terms of performance it’s out gunned by the Thruxton etc big time. But for the 961 fans, there actually isn’t much in the way of real competition. It really is a unique kinda bike, and the Enfield / Thaiumph etc are totally different things.

The only bike that competes with the 961 in terms of visceral appeal (character) is a Harley. But they’re a totally different sector.

Its a niche within a niche within a niche !

The 961 wasn’t ever a modern bike with modern design or modern technology. It was a throw back or retro bike.
TVS Norton is claiming the following. If it doesn’t compete with the modern competition of street bikes in the same category, to me that’s disappointing.
On top of all of that, everyone in the world can buy a V4 powered Ducati, Aprilia, etc. Will this be possible for the TVS Norton? Will their bikes be available at dealers around the world?
I know it sounds like I’m being impatient, I promise I’m not..they’re just questions I have that we’ll have to wait and see.

Agree totally with the V4 view, and I do hope it does deliver... Not sure if that's misguided 'brand loyalty', but I would like to see the marque get something sweet out there to help rid the sour taste of Garner..

But, regarding: 'The 961 wasn’t ever a modern bike with modern design or modern technology.'.... In fairness that wasn't how Skinner sold it to Classic Bike at launch... Great emphasis on their F1 ties and the 'best of everything' peripherals.....
Just saying...
