I use a shim on one end and a bronze spacer on the other side,
and set them up with zero play and a small amount of friction.
They free up when the head gets hot.
I like to think it helps the oil pressure at low revs. (maybe not so..)

Thanks for your replays, but nobody says to have issues with the spring washers?

Hi Yves , have a look and make your opinion..........

Hi Yves , have a look and make your opinion..........
Thanks, my opinion so far is; don't do it, taking the rocker shaft in and out can damage the casting.

is my wife Marina deaf?
I did a test; she was in the kitchen and I was in the living room
I ask, What are we eating tonight?
No antsword.
I go in the kitchen door and ask:
What are we eating tonight?
No antsword.
I walk 3 feets from here and ask;
What are we eating tonight?
No antsword.
I put my mouth to his ear and ask;
WAT ARE WE EATING TONIGHT?
Marina says; for the fourth time: T bone steak

Yves, I got some dummy rocker spindles made up that are slightly under size and are longer with knurled ends. This makes them very easy to fit / remove as often as I like without any worries of harming the head etc.

They are worth their weight in gold, I had them in and out dozens of times when I was setting up my top end.

I remember reading about those in a different thread a while back Nigel, did you make them, or have the made? They do seem like a good idea. Cj

I don’t have a lathe any more CJ since downsizing my shed, got a mate to turn ‘em up for me, not a big job...

Hi There
My Fullauto is back from the flowbench, here are the results from Werner with the golden Dremel:
As you know, its not easy to do better as the original flow results from a Fullauto head.
Thanks Wener, he find 7% more flow on the intakes with a Cobra head, but was not very happy with the flowing from the exhaust, he says the are to big, not a big deal.
Yesterday I put the head on the engine with the help from John Dascombe, we use a . 50mm cooper gasket with JS Pliobond.
The pushrods from Jim Schmidt are 1mm shorter as the originals, so I must adjust the valves clearence screws almost to the end to ritch the .006 inch play.
Tomorow I will tchek the cam timing.
I plan to put the engine in the frame the day after, I must find somebody to help me, with my bad hip I cant do it alone anymore.

Why a Congolese goes to the window during a thunderstorm?
To be on the photo.

Keep you posted

7% from increase is pretty good on a head that already has a good port shape. Now you have made it ideal. The FA extaust ports would have to be welded and raised on the floor for any improvement and thats maybe too much work.

Thanks jim, but I will keep it like this, I dont wish to weld on a FA head.

HI there,
First the bad news: yesterday I did a visit at my Cardiologist, he discover something on my aorta valve, the valve is closed for 35%, danger zone is 40%.
So I will need a stenn this summer.
On monday afternoon I was in my workshop and I try to doo the cam timing, the problem is that I can not stand up for more as a few minutes and to do cam timing you must stand up, thanks the Lord I receive a call from Ludwig, he was ready to help to put the engine in the frame, I explain him the problems I have to do the cam timing.
Ludwig show up today and give me a big help to do the cam timing, after tcheking we don't need to do any adjustements.
Ludwing kom back wenesday to help to put the engine in the frame.
Thanks Ludwig!

Jim sells hot dogs on the sidewalk of the Rockefeller Bank.
A friend from Jim comes and ask him for a Dollar to lend.
Jim says: I have a deal with Mr. Rockfeller, he doesn't sell hot dogs and I dont lend money.
