Inside the timing chest of a 961

Expensive and difficult to achieve - maybe just illustrate it instead, like these guys did!;)

Inside the timing chest of a 961

I don't think it would be difficult to adapt a Triumph igniter box to eliminate the ECU. But it would require someone to provide a donor bike. I doubt that any owner would want to offer up their 961 for experimental electrical surgery.
Fitting up the FCRs, not a problem. Dialing them in, a whole 'nother issue.

I considered this approach a few years ago. When SG bought back a 961 from a New Jersey man in 2015. SG authorized a Long Island dealer to buy back the 961 because the bike could not be made to start and idle properly. The owner threatened to "Lemon Law" the bike, which would have created a huge public stink for Norton in the US. The bike sat in the dealer's shop for about a year, partially disassembled. I was considering making an offer for the bike, but never did. It was only good for parts, so I was going to give them a low ball offer, maybe $5,000. That would have been a perfect donor bike.

OK but again the ECU can handle the timing and "correct" spark curve that can be modified unlike the Pazon so why go through the hassle of trying to scab on something that would require a new cover and machining? Also, the ECU controls a lot of other parameters safety-wise.

And what about installing a petcock bung? Cover plate in place of fuel pump with welded bung?

And last but not least have you removed the intake and tried to fit FCR or CR in there? Ill have to find a picture of when we tried to mock up a version.
any luck with pictures of the mock up please?
