" he crashed it at Bonneville in 2011 at somewhere near 150 mph. The bike was pretty trashed, "

hope He is o.k. now .

Not suprised as the frame has a good five a side braceing tubes missing , between the side rails , in comparison to a 74 F-750 or a F1 Ducati , and a
few cross ones too .

The kind of extended elasticity that would make me shy of getting to excited on some of the strechy choppers .

Oh Dear .

Quote by Hobot "Oh no now ya gone and done it, announced you are a carrier spreading the disease with only one cure a rip roaring Norton with feet forward and front wheel way out there"

Now just envision some blinding chrome, sparkly psychedelic paint, sleeping bag strapped to sissy bar, open road, and the breeze in my hair.

coco.
I was out in regina working at the Co-op last year and saw a guy riding a custom looking commando around town.
Was that you? it looked as though CNW had there fingers on the bike I saw. I dont imagine there are many commandos in regina, though I did see a few nice Beeeza's

Cheers...........

OMG! SK, you are facing the same thing I had too on past Peel, the extended forks mean ya must customize the side stand some how or let it run around in tight circles or lean against a tree or post. Someday maybe between you and me, we can get the prim and proper INOA to create a new show category within the roped off area instead of well outside its boundary.

Chopping up a Commando frame to hard tail it. If frame ain't chopped then it ain't actually a chopper is it?

I want, something cool could be made out of that for sure! That body kit is awesome.

Oh shit, that thing is about a 40 min drive from me. Too bad that douche thinks everything he owns is made of gold plated gold.

Classic ' Straight Leg ' Harley Frame .

from knucklehead & the like . Lengthening the front end without rakeing the frame tends to lift the Vertical C.G.
and throw the weight distribution into the cactus . The Low C.G. of traditional Narrow Engines was their quoted
enhancement to cornering & roadholding . The wider rice burners needed higer engines for ground clearance .

Generally was regarded the lower the crank the more stabilty , control & manouvreability .

Anyone building a Chopper should seriously study rake trail geometry & weight distribution.
If they wat the thing on their side in panic situations . Particularly on marginal surfaces
the high C.G. of a unraked frame & perhaps missmatched rake / trail
can lead straight into severe control problems .
As can inadequate chassis ridgidity .

:( The Olde ' Steet Coustom , set low as per Drag Chassis , if youre seated comfortably is likely the best example to emulate . :D

ou can see this things not unrelated . The WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION being as relevant as the geometry .

Commando Choppers please

If the fronts thrown out , the rear ( tyre ) takes the WEIGHT . and starts to need a bit of BRAKE compared to a normal motorcycle .
Its when the front ( crank / engine ) is Raised ( no frame rake ) that the mass / ceter of gravity ( point ) has a large leverage , and
if the Trail ( poasition of tyre on road AFT of line through steering head AT road surface ) the wobbles or weight can take over .
Particul;ary when slowing down & simultaeneously enering a corner . If its at the limits of stability & something crops up ( a Tractor  )
things can get out of hand / go bad , real quick . SO its wise to plan it all out . approximately . For Roadholding before ' appearances ' .

Most librarys have books on Motorcycle Chassis Geometry .

One for rohan . :D

Going by the intake track length and the Harley tranny and MT drag slick this does not appear to be a road bike but a competition ride taking advantage of the anti-wheelie chopper extended raked out front end's high speed handling ease.

Look again, that's no Harley part, looks Kawasaki, Suzuki or Honda. I read thru his build thread a while ago, I forget which one it was.

Aw poo Brent, caught me misleading list again. Anywho it'd make a good chopper start being able to fit a big fat rear. I am not really a motorcycler from way back so easy to mislead on alien details. My only contact with any real past era Norton Commando Chopper riders, were 2 white boys, dropping famous builder names and engine details and how they shut down all comers drag racing in public by dropping clutch in 4th and hanging on.
