961 MANUALS

Yes former 961X when John owned it and now its 4X. It was dormant for over a year as we waited for parts from the factory. I only got to do a battle with the Triumphs and Vintage SuperBikes in two races , the first one was the very first time I rode it so it was slow going, the 2nd race on Sunday I started at the back of the grid and picked off several bikes and really got into the grove and then coming up to another Thruxton she quit completely on a fast left hander , I put my hand up quickly praying that no one was behind me. Hoping to get it sorted soon for next season even if I can get her out a few times.

Hello Corse , Are you running the 2 into 1 exhaust ? I have never heard a 2 into 1 on a 961. Must be nice . Also , with the high revs of racing check all the fuses , some members have had them crack open.

It was apparently hand fabricated and I need to replace the muffler as it has a few battle scars from previous races, John mentioned that the fabricator may have used parts from Cone so I will be doing some more research. It does sound throaty! I'm not familiar with the electrical layout and not had much time up to now to be honest but I did see one main 30A fuse near the battery, not sure of the others.

Corse,

Been trying to get one of those 2-1 pipes for some time now.
If the collector is from Cone Engineering it may be packed with stainless padding.
Next time you speak to John, can you ask him if the fabricator is willing to build a 2-1 system for a stock 961 Commando?o_O
I would setting for the builder's email, or other contact info if possible.

Unfortunately he is no longer fabricating, I recently had one made for another vintage racebike and while the workmanship is astonishing it took him a year to make!

Oh, that's a bummer.
Thanks.

The other fuses are in the little grey box behind the seat just under the rear hump.

Have you considered the ZARD 2 into 1 system Brit Twit ?

Yes.
Good quality and all, but I want the collector on the left side, not the right.
Plus the system that John Snead had used spring clip quick disconnects.
A little racer chic.

Thank you very much Richard. I sent you the paypal donation. Truly appreciate the time and effort you put into these manuals. My right side mounting bracket for the megaphone exhaust must've come loose while riding and have fallen somewhere. Got a hold of Norton UK, gave me the parts list and price. Hopefully will get it soon so I can ride some more.
Best regards,
Henry
