Hmmmmm... seems we no longer have the "insert poll" feature? (or is it just me?) tag @L.A.B.

What type of riding do you MAINLY do with your commando? Answer all appropriate choices (A+F, etc.)

A. Regular street use
B. Regular highway use
C. Occasional use
D. Very little use except bike shows
E. No use, it's an investment
F. Road Racing
G. Drag LSR Racing
H. Off-road riding/racing
I. Touring (w/ gear aboard/attached)

"B" and hopefully "I" in my case. Only "A" use will be on the way out of town.

I'm C.

If you convince Jerry to do a fully survey, IMHO a better subject is what is your relationship to a Commando (or similar). In my case if it were just riding, it would be a Triumph and possibly a new one. I enjoy rebuilding Commandos, Triumph Twins and Triples, and BSA/Triumph singles. When I was young, riding was a requirement since I had no other transportation, and it was an escape from the hardships of life as well.

Perhaps. But, as this is a Commando-focused forum, and everyone on here HAS a Commando (even if they have other bikes), this was the aspect I am trying to ascertain. I'm entirely sure there are several / many people in this forum with more than one bike, in which case (many times) a certain bike is used for a certain purpose. Our interest here is mainly in the Commando.

C for me and lately has become my favorite tinker toy. That is the toy I tinker with the most.

FE is it + or ++. I don't ride in the winter anymore, last year all F, year before B with some F, this year definitely F and I hope B but I need to pull my finger out.

If it ever runs again the 850 will be A and B, what would be the point otherwise (and the reason I sold two bikes in the last couple of years that became ornaments)

The catch, it costs over $500 for registration plus insurance on top, in the Australian State I live in, that means a 125cc scooter costs the same as the 1000cc Africa Twin ( in the State I relocated from the scooter cost $126) unless you get a single seat registration which might reduce it by $200.
Have multiple bikes and it gets very expensive very quickly if you want a full registration that does not have draconian travel and distance rules attached (Club registration).
The State I moved from was bringing in a new set up for old motorcycles where one number plate could be transferred to each bike and a log book for each was kept.
I believe New Zealand was only charging $110 pa for bikes 40 or more years old.

For me it is all about the feasibility of multiple registrations and as a rule here, if your yearly registration was due tomorrow but you parked the bike and renewed it in eleven months, you would be charged for twelve months on that day but get one month on the road.

Riding is imperative, use it until you lose it (and you will one day)

F F & F lol I am a C I dont ride enough. Hope this year to move to an A again & if? Europe opens up I will be touring on my road bike from the race van

Paul,

Either I'm not writing well or you're not reading :)

You were interested mainly in how much people ride. That is not the only reason to have a Norton - you pointed out some, I mentioned more.
