What Did You Do With Your Commando Today?

Great 150 mile run out and back to/from Harrison Hot Springs today. Getting some 54 miles to US gallon. Noted past few weeks the go to fuel, Chevron 94 Octane, no longer displaying any ethanol percentage (used to say No Ethanol). All other offerings previously labelled with "May contain upto 10% Ethanol". Now nothing.
If I can confirm all have same Ethanol levels, then might as well start using the cheaper flavours.

Hghlight from today, an old coger coming up to chat about my bike as I was being served breakfast at a diner. He told me his second bike was a Commando (mine is my second bike) and that he had just seen an immaculate Commando pass by the diner moments before I came in. I had to tell him could not be mine, as it is pretty far from immaculate. After he'd gone out and gave my bike a closer look, he came back in to say it was my bike he'd seen and it was still immaculate. So I said it's a 10 foot bike...b/c at 10 feet away it can pass as immaculate ;-)

I am getting better at troubleshooting. Yesterday I was going over my Mark III in preparation for a group event today and noticed that the headlight didn't work. Got out the multimeter and a screwdriver to open up the headlight shell. Poked around and found that the light would go on if the ground wire was in a certain position. Poked around some more and the red wire came out of the bullet connector. Used a bunch of bad language waiting for the soldering iron to heat up. (a friend taught me to solder a year and a half ago) Soldered the wire back into the bullet connector, waited for it to cool, piled everything back into the headlight and the headlight worked!

Rode about 90 miles today, bike ran great and is not burning oil. Knock on wood...

Wow . I have much bigger issues than that , on an ongoing regular basis .
Bad language : Yes . I swear and people hearing me swear as I work on the street is not good .

Fitted an RGM belt drive. However, as I’ve had to adjust the gearbox forwards to accommodate the belt I’ve run out of adjustment on the rear chain so I’ve just ordered a longer one then the alignment fun can begin…

Serviced the hot rod. Check head bolts, valve lash. Change oil and filter. Looked over everything, just normal maintenance! Plugs very light tan, maybe a tad lean, but it's really running well. Using non ethanol fuel.

James! What a fabulous work of art you have in progress there! I might hit you up for a one on one of how you did some of your work on your bike (if that's ok with you). I see a lot of cNw stuff on there as well so no doubt you've been spending time and $ with Matt.

Suddenly rich on both Wassell carbs ( 1 yr. old . ) . Will pull carbs tomorrow to check . Pulled out and tossed the choke cables and assembly yesterday . No difference .

Thank you, I appreciate it.

Norton loaded up and ready for a morning escape northwest , seeing as the neighbour just gave Covid to the wife tonight . It may work in my favour , as trout season ends in 3 days anyways .

Grab yourself a Camelback or similar and you can put it into any backpack. You run the siphon tube along the straps to your mouth and just sip away as you need water. I used this on my road bike and also when I did some distance running.

Any camp shops well have a few to choose from I wear one when out on the dirt bike has a water bottle that comes with the whole deal , water bottle, back pack, hose and mouth piece, you need a lot of water when out on the dirt bikes.
