Ok what are you getting for mileage with your commando.

I think too I'm biting mine now.
Sincere apologies all round.

I’m clearly losing touch with forum etiquette these days as it seems I either cause lengthy unintended debates or unintended offence at least half the time I post owt.

Gettin’ too difficult for me…

The internet is like being in a pub but with enclosed booths where you can only hear but not see the other customers. Guaranteed mis-communication  .

You just needed to add your odometer mileage to your 2.5 gal per fill to be useful. Nothing too difficult about that. I caught the sarc ... no apologies needed.

Surprising with 45+ year old tanks that one doesn't have to check fuel without first mopping it up and wringing it into a bucket for measuring.
Don't you just love it. We got wristwatches that tell you how many steps you took today. That tech will be dead in 5 years. You put fresh fuel into that 45 year old tank and she fires right up, that is once you clear that wet sump. Ha. Ha. Oh where am I going here.

I like to know what its doing, with a Roadster tank mileage is limited. After 90m I want to fill up, after 100m I start to worry. Had a worrying few miles a couple of weeks ago, the garage I expected to be open wasnt... dont expect large garages to close at 5pm.

That is one of the reasons why I started this thread. Even though I have a bowser Interstate tank, I also very much like the roadster tank. I think it is the best looking (IMHO) but each to their own.
I call it a two hour tank. After fuel, you ride for two hours and then you are looking for a gas station. 19 tooth and original primary as mine was setup. You modify your bike and things change the MPG.
How hard you ride it changes the data. In the early 80's I ran out of fuel once, but the bike died with a gas station right across the road. So the humble push was not so bad.
Cheers,
Tom

My 72 Combat had a 19T but My 74 has a 21T Sorry I have more than One Norton Commando.
the 19T accelerated like crazy. But for cruising at 70 Mph it puts you up the rev range and your mileage will be less. Esturaryboy...Sorry you may not have read the entire thread?
Two different types of riding.
If I am reading you right?

Gone K&N I really don’t no why ,but I sadly keep a log when I fill up etc and the figures don’t lie ,seems a lot more tractable ,tick over has never been so good, RGM belt drive speeds up gearbox
Nice, is that the RGM kit?

With my original Amal's and Original air filter, I can get 63 Imperial MPG on a long strip [ 74 850 ], fully loaded with gear. It does vary according to the terrain of course. Years ago, I did record close to 70 <MPG on my 71 750 [ in winter 1973 ].

Hi Dereck - please warn me before you do a long strip again....
