Looking for a classic British marque less upright with a lower centre of gravity but with a bit of protection from the British weather? Look no further than the National Motorcycle Museum;

You'd think the new Norton folks woulda clued in, and or tapped in to that goldmine market potential

Less the Norton folks but the TVS folks I guess; that no doubt have an eye on that ‘goldmine’. Would certainly be surprised if TVS is not developing smaller capacity machines to badge Norton and sell to certain markets, including their own - as we’ve discussed.

Whether budget Nortons, engineered down to a very low price point, would be released into the UK market is unlikely at this stage IMO. It certainly wouldn’t fit with what they have briefed.

Already a major player in (budget) motorcycle manufacture, budget Nortons have gotta be an enticing proposition for TVS. No doubt they would make the most of the Norton branding, including British markings and graphics as Triumph has done with the 400 - legitimate? A matter of opinion I guess.

A proper none Norton Norton! No plastic fantastics, engineered down to an irreducible minimum value, here! From a time when men were men and women knew the difference😁!

Bad humour aside - look at them there lines!!

mmmmm... maybe for some.
To me it's too much engine for the frame and wheelbase.
Definitely in the eye of he beholder Rob. For me it’s all about that iconic engine, dominating for that reason; it’s the hero of the build! The rest, for me, is beautifully proportioned - minimal, simple and stylish. That big donk makes it a very purposeful looking classic IMO.

For me it's a toss up between the Egli Vincents like Godet builds or a nice Norvin as far as appearance goes, I like them both.
I went after weight reduction and built something that is quite different from either of those bikes, but closest to the Egli.
I've also thought that, although almost every imaginable engine type has been crammed into the Norton Featherbed frame, the very best choice for road use might be the Norton engine it came with, especially if it has SS in the model description.

I believe a 650ss engine/trans/is about 70 lbs lighter than the Vin. The 650ss Norton twin has far less torque than a Vin 998 but similar hp so can be revved to go nicely.

Glens votes 650SS, I vote Manx as the best engine for a featherbed frame. Both worthy victors.

Norvins just don’t have the right lines. The engine sits too high, plus other reasons.

The Egli Vincent is the perfect incarnation IMO:
