The next new Norton...

I can’t believe that of all things to complain about on the V4CR, it’s the orange seat color. If it was black, nobody would notice and then what should people be complaining about on the bike?

I hear more focus on the seat color then I do about other parts of the bike. I hope they make it, but like every single prototype or show model, they end up changing things and then the production model looks nothing like you hoped.

But I'm certain the reason for putting the V4CR on display was for Dr. Bob to hear the feedback from the public.

Also, a great way of headlining with a ‘new model’ with little more investment that a few bits of plastic / CF styling pieces !

I had a look on the Norton FB page and it was getting lots of very positive response, so I’d be very surprised if they do not proceed.

Doesn’t do it for me though.
 
I could like it with a few changes:
Of course, get rid of the orange stuff.
The seat is nice MotoGP style, but my posterior requires more real estate back there, how about a subframe for a dual seat.
The instrument panel flat on the steering stem is plain-jane stuff, lets see a curved led panel upright or at an angle.
Bin the clip-ons, and install low bars.
Maybe a bikini fairing.
Then give it a bitchin' name, not V4CR, try Combat, Hooligan....

The seat unit is very small on the faired bikes too but it looks even more pronounced on the naked one for some reason.

The headlight is too ‘stuffed in’ and the instrument panel design is not good. That area needs a tidy up.

Should definitely come with at least the option of bars.

They are trying way too hard to hide the engine for me. I think I get why, I think they’re trying to create a brand that doesn‘t rely on showing the engine, so they’re EV ready, but I wanna see engine!

But the biggest slap you in the face styling fubar is those ghastly chrome finned air intakes. I know others have bemoaned these and Nortons response was unapologetic, it’s a deliberate feature. Just a shame they look so shite !

I agree 100%. I spoil any beautiful bike simply by sitting on it.

These bikes are aimed at the young - end of.

I'm target age for both, can't say I care much for either. Then again, couldn't afford em even if I did.

Could be a heat shield for your legs . ?
 
Diehard fans will (almost) always reject the new.

We’re not rejecting it… we’re just disappointed with it…

This is the nub of the problem…we older types can perhaps afford these bikes but whilst the wallet is able the body can’t exploit what this new tech offers….the answer? Buy one for your 2 year old Grandson… you can at least run it in and sort out the post delivery dramas…you can even polish it and discuss the best oil.. .let’s face it they may be younger than us but we have THE NORTON KNOWLEDGE!

by the time your 2 year old grandson is old enough to ride, gas will be even more expensive and practically everything will be EV and I’ll bet they tax the hell out of us petro heads who still own and want to ride ICE

If they intend to call is a "Cafe Racer", then it needs a bit more attention to detail.
Goofy orange bits have to go. It's a Norton damn it, not a KTM.
A real cafe tail section is needed.
Maybe a half fairing. Then the intake can be disguised, and the intake "horns" removed.
And so on......

Yes it's really a sportbike, and not a cafe racer, just borrowing some styling cues from the cafe racer era.
If they want a CR then continue building 961's, or build a 650 twin CR.

I suppose I could live with the V4CR as is, and just close my eyes when riding it, but that would pose a few safety issues. :cool:
My choice would be to just build a straight up Hooligan V4 like the Aprilia Tuono, or Monster and be done with it.
 
I look at that v4
and the Daytona 955i looks better than ever . Not much cost, 161 HP, 422lbs and a terrific sounding engine. Honestly, between 8,000 and 12,000 rpm it's all I can do to hang on. The last two outings netted me two speeding tickets, both came after slowing down from the fun zone. More power would not be helpful.
It's even built in England if that is your preference. The triples tend to run forever and parts are readily available.
There are quite a few around to choose from.
That might be a negative for some. The draw of owning something that only a few own is immense. It doesn't seem to translate into a great riding experience from what I can see. For that you need a bike that will run properly for a long time.

It seems strange that anyone would put themselves through the agony of 44,000 GBP for the Norton, then deal with unknown reliability and parts supply. Just because it says Norton on the tank? Decals are cheap.

But we do some strange things to get the " right" motorcycle.
Such as locking yourself in a shed for two winters in order to build a lightweight Norton!
So I'm in no position to give advice☺️

I’ll say it again. It’s not a bike for boomers. Nobody hardly over the age of 50 will buy such a bike as this new Norton.

No offense, but it’s like having career politician. You can’t survive on one style or one rule. Things change like the times. If TVS wants to flourish they need to keep going with this new modern design.

If anyone else wants to be a dinosaur and crave a pokey air cooled retro bike, there are plenty options to choose from or even a used 961 if that’s one’s fancy.

This is the same reason why I don’t like Harleys. The always refuse to offer something outside their comfort level because they’re scared to upset the boomers and older buyers.
I’ll admit the livewire, pan America and the sportster s is a move in the right direction for Harley. And so is the new V4 line of bikes for TVS Norton.

And like you said, they’re more plentiful. Ask any woman in fashion if she likes seeing another woman wearing the same piece of clothing at the same gathering. She’ll tell you no.

I prefer to not have what everyone else in my area has. Not that I ever seen a Dayton in my neck of the woods, but I know for a fact I’ll never see a new Norton and that’s a fact.
