600 lbs curb weight is a heavy cruiser or about 2 lightweight 920 Nortons.
Thats whats on my mind whenever I drag mine out of the shed…!

Harley reported serious financial problems in 2019, they decided to go ahead with just the PanAm Adventure bike, and defer the Streetfighter to a future date. But they never said when that future date would be.Anyone know why they canned it?
It’s the engine (and I assume) frame from the adventure bike, it therefore wouldn’t have cost much to produce.

The Streetfighter was supposed to use a 963cc version of the new V-Twin, not the 1200.
The 963 was supposed to have 120HP and bike's dry weight was 460lbs.
So performance wise, should be pretty peppy.
Because it doesn’t live up to its name.Anyone know why they canned it?

600 lbs is peanuts compared to big heavyweight 2 up camping gear tourers.
Ahh, i was looking at ~ 'if they ever offer something non forward control" alone, bike weight doesn't mean much to me, i even prefer bigger.Thats not light and nimble!

Even my 1947 touring bike with rack, top box and large panniers is about 100 lbs lighter than the Harley.
Had one from new. Just over three years old but only done 3500 miles as I have other bikes. It is my modern bike. Always planned to build an original Commando with latest mods but realised you still end up with an engine that vibrates itself to bits and will never be capable of producing over 65 rwbhp reliably over 1000’s of miles. The 961 does all this with a decent Spondon derived frame, ohlins and reasonable brakes. Has a great power delivery - hits 4000 and takes off. Shakes at 3000 and vibrates at 4600. Character. No water cooling, no unecessary plastics, no seam welds and easy to service. Not aware of anything else like this on the market. Yes, I like it.Do you have a 961?
How do you like it?
Prob the kids love it. Goes with video games..Just hope Harley renames the thing to something else:
Sportster II
Sportster Deux
Sportster Redux
VL1200
.........
Really, anything else but Streetfighter!
That’s my point. Ducati street fighter is a high performance bike. The Harley street fighter is a lame attempt to the meaning of the name “street fighter” unless you’re from San FranciscoIsn‘t that name already taken? Don’t you guys have the Ducati Streetfighter over there?
I think the harley is officially model Bronx ...street fighterIsn‘t that name already taken? Don’t you guys have the Ducati Streetfighter over there?
In defense of the original Commandos, the engines shake, but not to bits. Also, most importantly they don't shake the stuffings out of the rider!Had one from new. The Bronx is supposed to be a tough place.I think the harley is officially model Bronx ...street fighter
Dude has dough, fiddling is prob for the birdsIn defense of the original Commandos, the engines shake, but not to bits. Also, most importantly they don't shake the stuffings out of the rider!
A friend just rebuilt his 73 850 owned since 1975. This was his only transport until 1990. At time of rebuild there was128,000 miles on the bike with just one top end rebuild done at about 60,000 miles.
Looking at the 961 reported mileages, issues and some very early rebuilds- the original Commando looks pretty decent.

I don't think this guy likes HarleysThat’s my point. Ducati street fighter is a high performance bike. The Harley street fighter is a lame attempt to the meaning of the name “street fighter” unless you’re from San Francisco
Harley Davidson designers and engineers don’t know the meaning of “performance “
They’re stuck in the “Easy Rider” days of boring lame bikes.
Well I do own one lol.I don't think this guy likes Harleys
I’ve got a Honda Element that’s rusting to bits and a couple cases of really terrible lite beer - maybe we can make a deal ?By that measure I need to get rid of the Vincent!

No V-rod is good at handlingNobody remember the Harley VRod? Porsche designed engine, 115-125 bhp, good handling Street Rod with mid footrests, Destroyer with 8 second 1/4 mile capability from a showroom bike. Didn’t sell particularly well but values now going up because of their rarity.
Plus, they ugly.No V-rod is good at handling
Please show me a V rod that’s running anything near a 8 second 1/4 in showroom condition.
That was the special model built from unobtainium.Destroyer with 8 second 1/4 mile capability from a showroom bike.
