The next new Norton...

A few years back there was a reality TV program- “ Pink Slips “ or something to that effect. The premise was basically drag racing where winner takes ownership of the loser’s vehicle. One episode featured a Brand new V Rod vs an older low budget Kawisaki 900 inline four . It was embarrassing and expensive for the V Rod guy .

That was the special model built from unobtainium.
Weighed almost nothing.
This is correct . Do not mistake a standard V-R0D with a specially built only 600 or so made V-Rod Destroyer Please ! This bike came with wheelie bars and a flat slick from the factory. Look it up , its all there .

The Destroyer was simply a twinkle in Custom Vehicle Operations’ eye in October, 2004, but by Harley’s dealer show less than a year later, they had an essentially finished production dragbike for sale at $31,249. Initial build was to be 150-300 units, but dealer reaction was overwhelming, and more than 600 orders were placed. From Cycle World .

The next new Norton...

One of these'll set you back 60.000 U.S. too .

Think Garner mustve had a funny cigarette and seen ' the Silver Dream Racer ' in his youth ? .

The next new Norton...

can't wait to hear more from voodoo
What’s to hear?
I don’t like Harley’s idea of “performance”. They haven’t a single idea of what performance is or means.

When they offer a bike 500 pounds or less.
With Brembo or another performance line of brakes.
With Ohlins or another performance line of suspension.
That has a performance seating position, with rear sets, with light weight materials and makes over 150+ hp………Then I’ll consider it a performance bike. Until then, they only make land yachts.

My names Scott and I own a 2021 Low Rider S.
For sale.

They tried tipping into that market with the lightweight bikes and it didn't work out. The Pan American has been hyped up but there are no real numbers to support HD claim its best selling as Harley only reports numbers shipped to dealers. I'm in a huge motorcycle market and I rarely if ever see one on the road along with the electric catastrophe they also "sold out" of. Most of our customers who purchased the Pan did so to collect it because they think it won't have a long run.

At least with Indian they went with Roland Sands to help market. but again a really heavy bike Most people who say Harleys or Indians aren't heavy haven't spent a day moving them around. Full touring bikes with gas push over 1000 pounds

Vrod was as close to performance that could be classified as "performance".

Just curious, u a fan of boomers?

I’m definitely not a fan of that style of bike or riding.
What do you mean?
My boomer comment means, Harley is stuck in the 70s / 80s design era. They cater one style of bike. As I said, the Pan America, Sportster S and the Livewire are a move in the right direction, but they still haven’t a “performance “ bike.

Nope. Not gonna put any money into the Harley. I’ll most likely sell or trade it, I don’t care for its riding position, weight and laziness. I know Harley’s have a following but I just can’t get into it. I listened to all my friends and figured I’d try it, but it’s not for me.

I have a 2021 Low Rider S,
2020 Ducati Diavel 1260s
2020 triumph bobber TFC
2017 Norton Dominator Naked
2016 Norton Commando sf.

By far, the Low Rider S is the heaviest. Harley calls them “mid controls” they’re more like forward mid controls.
The pegs also are so widely spread apart that you scrape in even the slightest of lean over or turn.
Even pushing it around in my garage you can feel it’s truck like weight.
It revs like a diesel truck.
I know the potential of the Milwaukee.
I know I can raise the suspension to get more lean.
I know I can swap pegs and add real mid controls.
BUT I can’t bring myself to put that kind of attention and money into a bike my heart isn’t in to.
Everyone of my friends own Harley’s and for a long time I been told how great they are, so I figured I’d try to own one myself.
I won’t say I regret it, but I will say it’s just not for me.
Maybe if I did long highway rides or trips, I’d possibly get a street or road glide, but then again, I’m just not into two wheel tanks.

You need more friends with Italian (and maybe British) bikes.
That would be great lol.
But where I live it’s Harley 85%, Japanese 14% and Euro 1%.
Everything else is John Deere, Massey Ferguson and Case.
Behind me is about 800 acres of farm land. And on the other side of that farm land is a Iron Coffins Motor Cycle club that I avoid.

As a farming region that's an awful lot of sheep.

Its amazing what they can do with those heavy bikes. The Harley Museum is a great place to visit .
