That's not all bad if they can control quality of the vendor bits and pieces. That's where the rub comes in when you outsource.

The sound of a nail being hit firmly on the head!
Not that anyone here would have experienced second-rate outsourced parts....

I hope they aren't buying any parts from DO over-Norton, er, uh, I mean Andover Norton. Or maybe they are and no one is visible in the pics because they are all in the back room fiddling with the parts trying to make them fit! :)

I do think the introduction of the new Norton may cause CNW to restructure their price of a CNW Norton.

Astute observation.

I myself have been wondering if I'll net a thin dime off the money and efforts I've poured into the Silver monoshocker...

I doubt CNW will feel any negative impact from the new Commando. If anything they'll get more business due to the new, souless machine costing more than a CNW built REAL Commando.

Got a calculator handy?

Your math is a bit off!

I thought the new ones were priced in the high 20's.

Either way, I'd still pay the same or more for a CNW bike if given the choice. I just don't like how the new ones look. I'd also rather have a restored 60's Mustang over the "new is old again" ones being sold now, an original VW Beetle over the new repops, ect ect ect

This whole what is old is new again now is just boring no matter what product it is. Companies are even reissuing old skateboards from the 80's now too (drives me nuts since I collect NOS skate decks from the 80's). It is rather annoying the amount of band wagon jumping and defunct brand rehashing that is goin on these days, but I'm sure you're picking up on what I'm laying down.

According to Mr Garner: The engines are built by "MCT in Oxfordshire", the frames are "made in Coventry", and components come from "places such as Sweden, Italy and Japan, but about 80% of the bike comprises of parts made in this country".
Ok Les. I am a old fuddy at times, and a 100% brit made small batch bike is impossible, due to our under developed man' u base.....Yes it's better than none ..i guess? and most youngsters dads will be soon talkin over a quite bevie," E lad , i can remember doin the ton .with thy mam on the back" Great stuff!

$17,899 for wire wheels, $19.499 with CF wheels, from the US Dealer, South Bay Norton.

IF the prices are still good when they actually have bikes to release to customers...

Well, you can postulate all sorts of worst cases, but their deposit form ($3,000 non-refundable deposit required) is a contractual promise to deliver the bike at those prices, plus the usual tax, prep, and license, depending on which state they deliver it to. There's no weasel wording in the form to let them raise the price. Unless they go bankrupt, they will have to deliver the bikes at the agreed price, refund the deposits (like Kenny Dreer forced the owners of what was once his company to do), or see a lot of buyers in court.

Hopefully, they will eventually start delivering the bikes here, and we won't have to speculate about it.

Saw one last night at Ashby Folville (local car and bike meet) and it certainly had a crowd around it getting lots of favorable comments so as said earlier they are the real deal, are on the road and being used.

Unlike some of the modern pastiches (Beetle/Fiat 500 for example) these are not just a retro cosmetic re-vamp but an original design and build and could be arguably what Norton would be making if they had continued in business.

Wish I had £13k spare
