Sorry Bill and Dave, Never would have guessed there are a few people making these. LOL  I really thought you were one in the same. Chuck.

How much are the Collars?
I haven't seen a price yet.
Not necessarily looking for the cheapest.
The Ebay ones look like they may go for like $32.

I get $35.00 plus $5.00 post in the us. some people want to rip you on shipping but I use the small priority post box that is actually $4.95 to mail.

I was recently asked to update this thread with a couple of links for the clamps and bolts. I found McMaster-Carr to be a good source for both. To address the concerns of gouging the spindle, brass-tipped grub screws are used. I installed these some years ago, and they do help with the dreaded head shake.

The clamps will have to be drilled and tapped for the 1/4-28 grub screws, but it's easy enough to do with a drill press.

For those of us in Europe (or the UK ;)) it’s worth noting that Constance over at Holland Norton Works does a pair of clamps for €35

too bad EU only has painted/power coated kind as routine use tend to road blast to rust intruding into threads so highly recommend SS to those that can acquire or have made. If only used on larks in great weather coated steel may last a long time.

I agree, when I did mine you can see there is clearance under the bolt heads. I would not have used washers so hopefully next time Mike has the wheel off we can check it. It's probably ok.

Long time ago, before I was aware of Kegler clamps, I made an oversized spindle. Made for a shrink fit. Used a hone to true the cradle. I put the spindle in the freezer, the cradle in the oven. Used anti- seize. Need a press to remove spindle. Solid for 25 years and still going.

Recently finished with a cradle/swingarm rebuild and upgrade. I bought the already reinforced cradle from a bloke who used to race, the spindle bore was fairly unmolested at original ID. That said, I still had to ream it out a bit to get a tight sliding fit with the new stainless spindle I purchased. Same with the funky plastic-type bushings I bought from a guy in OZ, they come REALLY tight, so I reamed to achieve a similar tight sliding fit as with the cradle bore.

Anyway, I have the Kegler clamps on my current cradle, but for this new one I instead opted to drill the locking bolt holes and weld nuts to the cradle tube (like the MKIII versions I believe. Also welded up reinforcement around some of the common wear spots on the cradle (mainstand spring hole etc.)

Finally, new swingarm in decent nick was sourced, and I welded in the supports gussets

The whole rig should be pretty stable (no spaghetti commando swingarm here!)
