I am banning the user from the forum.

You get my vote for the best dictator on the forum, banning users, excluding whole countries, did you read Kim Jung Il's (second best dictator ever, with Omar Bongo close by) biography

Sometimes, I think countries would run better with dictators

Way to go Dave, you are running away with the votes :D

Very childish and unsporting if indeed an entrants response. Banned from the kingdom of commando

I just wanted to congratulate all the builders entered in the Most Improved contest.
I would be proud to have finished any one of those build and been able to call them my own.

GandPaul you’re a man of extreme talent and a huge skill set, what an impressive machine!
Swoosh, your documentation on your build is off the chart. Thanks you for all the dozens or is it hundreds of hours you put into your detailed photo logs of the rebuild and repair process.
James and Tim hit a soft spot sporting the Corbin gunfighter seat, I have loved those from day one.

I was really unfamiliar with the SS molded until finding this forum and now find them extremely appealing.
Alan’s your purple specimen was a particular favorite.
Marks Royal Blue flake was extremely impressive. We need to see more shots of that paint!

So with all the great entries my vote goes to the Dog. Love the bike, I love the story of the rebuild, your challenges and the triumphant moments and I appreciate you willingness to always offer up helpful advice to others.

Merry X-Mass to All!

Gary,
Thanks, but not to be too picky, the SS model has the pipes going up both sides, the S just the left side. I think the SS model came in around Mar 71.

Every now and then I get something a bit negative (not often). I received a reply back last night that I thought would get ya going. This is what the person said:

Sorry Jerry, no thanks,
From what I have seen, your forum members wouldn't know a most improved Norton if it fell in their laptop.

I doubt this person even looked. I am banning the user from the forum.

Yikes!

Sounds like a personal problem, perhaps with a particular member whose bike appears in the contest.

Merry Christmas, Jerry, and thanx a ton for the forum. Contribution to the forum, and to the contest winner, as soon as I get back home from holiday.

Way to go Jerry. That's a dude with an attitude! While some of us are earning or have earned our Norton diplomas right here on this forum there are many others who have acquired it through as much as 1/2 a century of motorcycle involvement. The beauty is we all fit in on the forum. Grinches like that are best on the outside looking in.

Ok , now I want to change my vote! Thanks Dave, So it the S and not the SS I like, you have enlighten me once again! Good luck, lots of nice entries!
Gary

Gary, If you get a chance do a Google Images search for Norton Commando SS, it is also a very good looking model and quite rare.

Banned! Yikes...I hope I don't get into trouble for commenting that it is very difficult to make a choice from this list. I would be proud to have any of these bikes sitting in my stable and collectively they represent a lot of labor. But "most improved" is a very subjective thing that in my opinion relies less on paint and more on mechanical methods employed and with whether or not the bike is a joy to ride! With that said...I think that an anual celebration of our own brand of insanity is terrific!

Edit: Hey I see some nice looking Roadster seats in some of these before photos. If anybody wants to clear space in the shop I am going to be needing one!

If you play your cards right you can have the splendid example from my 'before' photo!
Regards
Dave M

DogT you get my vote in particular down to the quality of articles you have written which match the quality of your build. Good Luck and I hope you get a late winning flurry of votes.

Great bikes guys.... Its nice to know you appreciate at least some of the things that were MADE IN ENGLAND!!!!!!!
Dog you have my vote... Love the colour.. Keep em comming..

I don't post very often, but I agree, banning that type of attitude is a positive move. There are enough things to be negative about in the world without including an informative website as this. This is a fun contest and all of the bikes show well and deserve merit from all of your forum members. Best wishes to all and Happy New Year.

Donations that will go to the winner:
...
- GrandPaul $125
...
Jerry, I don't know if you saw the note attached to the Paypal donation, but it's $25 for the "Most Improved" winner, and $100 to the general forum upkeep.

Thanx.

whoops-- I truly appreciate the donation. It costs a lot in hosting and my time to keep the forum running. You have given the biggest donation I have ever received. Every dollar helps.. Thanks again Paul

Might as well start selling ads too. GP already put a deposit down on one.

Norton Motorcycles or anyone can have one for $500/month -- Otherwise no ads as it becomes tacky

I don't think they can afford that. If they did take you up, ask for cash.

I've been advertising on a couple of forums, and there is nearly zero return on investment.

I made that doination because I got blessed with a short stack of play money, and decided to put a few bucks in where I get a lot of enjoyment out.
