Ok, here I go again with a silly part question. I think I'm missing a lower rear fender mount bracket of some sort. I can't seem to find a part number in my parts book either if it is what I think it is I'm missing.

I've got the one U shaped braket that fits over the rear frame loop, I've got the square looking bracket that bolts the fender to the cross member of the frame (part # 06-2169) and there is a lower bracket of some sort I seem to be missing. Was the triangular horn bracket doubling as a fender bracket as well? I didn't take pictures of that area when doing disassembly so I can't figure out what I'm missing and my horn and bracket are long gone. I also can't find reference to that piece with a part number in the parts book. Any help with a part number would be great and pics as well.

This does catch a few people out...

The two bolts [41] (& washers [42]) which secure the triangular horn bracket to the underside of the battery tray should be long enough that their threads extend rearwards and double-up as the fender/mudguard lower mounts. Two nuts [39] and washers [38] secure the triangular plate to the battery tray first. http://www.nortonmotors.de/ANIL/Norton% ... &Plate=031
The horn/bolt assembly being drawn facing the wrong way in the diagram doesn't help, of course!

Then the rear fender/mudguard is fitted over the same two rearward projecting bolt threads, and is secured by two nuts [15] and two washers [14].

Thanks. So don't need the horn bracket as I'm not running that factory boat anchor and have a smaller one I'm mounting in my battery area. I'm using a MKII battery tray to give me more room in there.

Now the second bracket you posted a link to (part #11 in the drawing, the square looking one) is bolted onto the horn bracket bolts? For some reason I thought that square bracket was mounted much higher much higher on the fender, closer to the rear cross member of the frame, behind the battery compartment area as there seems to be only one hole to mount the fender to, the other two holes are for mounting the bracket to the bike frame.

My rear fender is at the painters so I can't hold it up to the frame to look at mounting points.

For some reason I'm recalling 3 mount points. 1 at the rear loop (2 holes in fender) 2nd halfway down (1 hole in fender) and the third at the bottom near the horn bracket (2 holes at bottom of fender). I think I'm confusing myself with this.

No...it's as you originally thought.

The plate [11] has a pair of 1/4" bolts/spacers/washers/nuts etc. [13]-[17]-[14]-[15] fixing it to to the pressed sheet metal frame cross member, and a single 5/16" fastening to the fender/'guard [12]-[17]-[8]-[16]

The lower horn/fender retaining nut/s [15] listed as being 5/16" http://www.nortonmotors.de/ANIL/Norton% ... 29&Part=15 "NUT 5/16"UNF 27815/06.0348
Part Number: 140302"

Is wrong!

However its washer, and the horn/fender bolts are correctly listed as 1/4"

Wrong? The manual is NEVER wrong! Ha ha ha.

Thanks L.A.B. I've got it all figured out now and I did have the upper mounts right. I'll just use a couple of 1/4" bolts on the bottom with some washers to act as spacers. I just didn't want to bugger up my brand new paint job on the fenders while mounting. I think I'll invest in some rubber washers as well.

Next time (hopefully there will be no next time) I'll take more reference pictures as I tend to forget the order of things after the bike has been apart for a year.
