Hey all,
I'm working on a basket case 1967 G15CS. It is missing the rear fender and all hardware to mount it. In looking through the parts manual I see part # 030315 described as a rear loop which according to Walridge site is the the loop that bolts to the rear frame where the top shock mounts.
I also see part # 032256 described as a support tube. Can anyone tell me what the function of this part is and what it looks like? A picture would be fantastic.

Thanks,
Ed

I made my own...

Turns out the solid steel rods should start angling upwards almost as soon as they exit the lugs on the frame tube ends, then make the curve over the top.

Since I didn't have a photo to work from at the time, I just "winged it".

Sorry, that last one was a P-11 Ranger.

This was an N15CS...

Seat mounted on top after that...

I believe it took a thick spacer between the seat tab and the rear fender, with a large washer under the fender.

Thank you Grandpaul. The pictures you sent confirm that the 030315 rear loop in the photo on the Walridge site matches what you show.
However, I'm still puzzled about what the 032256 part # is and what it looks like.

That other part MIGHT be a flat, curved strip that goes over or under the fender, crossing from shock mount to shock mount.

Thanks again, Grandpaul. Is that what I see in the first pic of your second post?

Ed

Might be. Let me see if I took another photo of that area closer up...

Walridge, Baxter Cycle and other dealers are listing the mudguard loop using a wrong number. P/N 030315 is actually that of the rear subframe for roadsters, also used on the G15CS. You will find it in the FRAME section.

The correct part number for 1965 G15CS (US Model, alloy rear mudguard) is 03-1530.

Please note that digits are the same, just in the false order. A UK based fabricator of these fender loops probably mixed up the digits at some point in time.

For the 1966-68 G15CS (US and EUROPE) and 1968 (late) G15CSR (US and EUROPE), a slightly revised stay was listed, 03-2256.

One difference between the two was the bracket bores. 03-1530 brackets were drilled for 1/4" bolts, needed for bigger washers as fenders were made of alloy (they also had a reinforcing plate at the underside).
Along with the introduction of chromed steel fenders in 1966, 03-2256 had brackets drilled for smaller bolts (2BA sized at 3/16").

1965-67 G15CSR had a different fender loop, 03-1586. I believe the loop's curvature was different to 03-1530 due to the alloy mudguard's lesser width, as the rear tyre was narrower than that of the G15CS.

The specification of a 1968 G15CSR ("Ape hanger" model and maybe some very late CSRs in touring guise) calls for chromed steel fenders and the 03-2256 fender loop.
In an earlier batch, the 1968 G15CSR touring model had rear alloy fender off the 1967 model and therefore fender loop 03-1586.

Apart from bracket bores, I believe 03-1530 and 03-2256 are interchangeable.

Cheers,

Knut S.
