Ignition. Here we go again!!! Tri Spark??

Hi
I think, cooling and ventilation is a good thing for Tri-spark
As you can see from the picture I have made ventilation in the cover. I have corresponding openings in the front, so that the air blowing through. There have never been any problems with moisture. Think the stator is fairly resistant to moisture, it's still a little hot in there so it stays dry I think.
I think at least that the temrature is important for the stator ability to survival.

Ignition. Here we go again!!! Tri Spark??

Vidar I have thought about venting to get air moving around my Tri-Spark unit but have you driven through rain ? with those cuts rain would be a big factor I would think. Unless you are a fair weather driver only. I'm thinking of a smaller cut to the lower rear of the cover or bottom myself. When I pulled the cover for the first time there was a smell of hot electronics ,almost like a stereo amp left on too long. Just a slight smell ,nothing big. The unit works great though ,earlier model with no test light.

Hi again

Yes, I've run in the rain, I've run in the rain a whole day without any problems,
so I think it is a good solution.

Thanks. My cover sticks out way further and is highly polished. This winter I will do the same , but a much smaller cut to it.

Hi
I have exactly the same slot on the opposite side. (180 degrees). Then the lower end of the opening is so low that all the water that has come in easily get drained out.

Following 1up3down's practice I have had success by wiring the ignition direct to the battery (via a switch) I have a Boyer powerbox fitted and a digital voltmeter. I noticed that coinciding with the cutting of ignition the digital voltmeter was going blank. I wonder if the powerbox steps the delivery of charge to the battery and this interferes with the ignition. It had no effect when the Boyer EI was fitted. Just got to tidy the jury rigged switch up

Mines great so far.

Third Tri-Spark equipped bike I've had.

Zero issues to date.

I love 'em.

I'm with you fast ed. I have a tri-spark on my mk111 and triumph Daytona. Easy starting and great idle. I could never get the Triumph to idle like it does now with another ignition. To many people have electrical problems and blame the ignition unit without looking elsewhere first. I can't wait to get his new 750/4 unit with the mapping feature for my rickman 836. Should be fun !
