Front disc brake binding on

I agree with scim77 on the Brembo stuff. Most World SuperBike and MotoGP teams use it. Have it on both Ducati's and the R1100RS and have converted the Interstate and now the cafe racer to 30/34 four piston caliper.
The cost of the CNW/QTMI setup is steep, but the confidence in the front brake is worth it. I did my own conversion mainly because I think all the chrome makes it look like a pimped out chopper. Going with new parts you will have a $300-350 bucks in a caliper and master cylinder, while a cast iron full floating rotor runs another $400-500. A lot of good second hand stuff is available from wrecked bikes and upgraded racers if you want to cut the cost. Then you have to find a machinist to make the caliper adapter and rotor spacer. CNW/QTMI will not sell parts from their kit.
A sleeved Norton master cylinder works well with the Brembo caliper and rotor if you want to use the stock switchgear.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just had the exact problem as the original poster. A freshly rebuilt caliper and master cylinder (though not re-sleeved). Stainless hose. It's been working flawlessly until the other day when I rolled it out of the garage, I noticed it was a little tough to push. Took it for a quick ride around the block and knew something was off. I could barely spin the front wheel when I got it home. The caliper was binding TIGHT. I popped it off, and if you pull the lever, the pads move in quite freely, and go MOST of the way back, but it seems that they don't want to retract all the way. I'm going to try a few of the suggestions posted in here, but was wondering if there are any new tips I should try? Thanks!

Three years ago I installed CNW's Brembo MC and SS brake line with new pads and rebuilt caliper. We don't suffer the same traffic stress here in N.S. as some areas, but I would have to say I have improved my front stopping power by 100% . Maybe a bit of exaggeration but you get my drift. Just one alternative to spending thousands. Last year I installed Lansdowne Dampers and the combined improvements with good front brakes has been amazing.
