pleased to report that the EBC FA016HH pads are a vast improvement over the LMP123 pads. It now feels like braking happens without making a huge grab of the lever.

It's also a matter of keeping the original looks or not. If you don't care and if you have plenty of money you can go crazy. If you wat to keep the original looks and switches, the aforementioned sleeving in combination with a steel braided line already make quite a difference. Haven't tried the ferrodo pads yet. My experience is that many do not know how to get out trapped air. The design of the caliper traps air. Pushing the pistons back some times will help a lot, just as taking it off the fork and keeping it in the right position when you squeeze a piston back. Be aware to keep the opposite one in place. Most of the trapped air in the pump will also come out this way. Another way to get the air out of the pump is to squeeze the handle firmly and let it go back. You can see tiny bubbles coming in the reservoir. Tapping the handle or squeezing the handle for only a milimeter wil get out more air. Repeat this until no more air comes out and the brake is not spongy anymore.

Phippsy, which make is this caliper and which mastercylinder (piston diameter) do you use ?
It’s a pretech easy to find on google they use triumph pads I use an Andover Norton 13mm master cylinder phenomenal braking plenty of feel

Rgm 12” floating disc pretech callipers are made to fit this product

I've upgraded four Nortons to date using the RGM disc & a Yamaha (Sumitomo) blue spot four piston caliper on my own design of bracket. I chose this caliper because being a monoblock design it's much more compact & the mudguard stay fits in the standard place under the caliper with room to spare. Used in conjunction with a 13mm Nissin M/C as fitted to various Hondas it works very well.
Sorry I can't post a piccy but I'm a bit clueless with tech.

That’s a good spot Cliffa!

Do you know if they have anti rattle pad retaining springs?

I had a Pretech caliper on my Commando and the braking performance / feel etc was awesome. But the pad rattle (no springs) drove me nuts !

That's a good point. I had a look on their website and there is no mention of springs, so my guess is no.

Surprising that none of the 'improvers' here chooses for a radial MC.
I use a Brembo 16 mm radial.
Better feel than a linear MC and more compact:

Simply changing to the Brembo Master Cyl (CNW), adding Ferodo Pads and an SS brake line will give the street-ridden Norton brakes that feel and stop great. I would not recommend sleeving a MC. Sleeving Amals is fine - they can't hurt you if they fail! ;)
