I am placing an order with Judd Racing soon. I have gotten a good response thus far and will be moving forward with this. I am planning some head work (porting) and wanted new parts to install after I did this. I will keep you guys posted . This is Owen I contacted , so all is good with Judd atm !

Hi Anthony,

Please see attached prices for your Norton 961 parts, all prices are including VAT and for all quantity's you require

Intake valve - £45.92
Exhaust valve - £58.34
Intake valve spring - £20.33
Exhaust Valve spring - £33.54
Valve spring retainer - £18.66
Valve collets - £10.80
Well that’s good news! Maybe we were filling some gaps in the story that did’nt need to be filled - can be a problem when discussing anecdotal conversions I guess.

The turnaround for pricing in this instance was just a couple of days which is great, and I take it Judd knew that Tony was overseas and therefore that the parts are for a Donny 961.

So the best approach seems to be: request via e-mail: be specific; parts numbers where possible; become ‘low hanging fruit’; be patient and hope to get lucky like Tony👍! Not perfect but at least the lines remain open.

Hello Again , I may actually NOT be placing an order with Judd Racing for Norton Parts . They have gone silent , I haven't heard form them (Owen) in days. I thought I was close to getting a shipment and now nothing . 👎 I will let this site know if anything changes . But for now the same old tired routine. :(

That’s not great Tony - I feel your frustration. You may just need to be patiant - the last spares I ordered took weeks.

Your order will be subject to Judd/ Owen's priorities and then Norton’s. You may find that Owen has processed the spares and he’s waiting for Norton to action - he told me how busy Judd were and that Norton were generally slow with spares provision.

Every update we request of him adds to his workload I guess. I’d leave it a fortnight - if nothing, ring him directly.

What was your last order ? if you don't mind me asking . I placed an order for those valve train parts , valves , springs , collets , retainers etc.

I purchased the spares related to the gear change mechanism Tony - didn’t need them, just wanted to test out the spares system. I now have two sets, if anybody needs one in a hurry. I’m slowly gathering spares I might need in future. Received an IAV yesterday

Patience is our only option (and to tread lightly) IMO. We’re at the end of the priority list for understandable reasons - being required to go through a relatively new dealer system may well slow things further.

Great spot Voodooo, as you know I’ve been looking for one for years. Purchased and on its way. Already have the single seat.

Thanks again. Much appreciated. 👍

That's exactly how it went for me with Owen too. Parts prices quite quickly....then nothing. I gave up chasing him as no replies to emails and seemingly difficult to get on the phone.

This is pretty much the norm with 961 parts. I swear these bikes are cursed.

Valve springs are/were supplied by Pac Springs...so you may be able to source more locally to you. I'd confirm the valve collet prices, as they're listed as being two per valve, so you'd be in at £80 for those. The Donington stock check lists them as just under £3 each...so £10.80 definitely sounds like just one to me, based on the valve spring retainer price and what those are listed as for a buy in price.

Liking the bottle top key idea - would make it look less like a cheap caravan key.

Mark over on the FB site is also designing a new key and garnering interest.

You know you’re at the end of your 961 fettling journey when you reach this level of detail😆! Why not - the little things matter too!
