Verbal diarrhoea if you ask me. He describes Wolverhampton as 'quaint' I've never heard that one before !

The bike looks nice but I'm puzzled by his assertion that a Mk111 had a fibreglass tank. It was at least six years old when he bought it so the provenance is perhaps a little less clear than he suggests.

Most of the steam locomotives that I've seen have been belching smoke, dripping oil and grease and in the charge of someone with filthy hands and a black face...Yeah, he could be right, Nortons do have much in common ! :)

Castrol has always been a gloriously evocative smell for we classic enthusiasts, but making biscuits out of it is clearly a (railway!) bridge too far and apparently induces the literary equivalent of dysentery. Perhaps after he has sold the bike he can return to submitting editorials for the 'Haemorrhoid Examiner'

This guy has a way with words, Transparent and honest, This is about a bike? I know I have not heard this kind of talk!

I'm a bit skeptical. He fills two pages singing its praises yet, out of that mass of words he neglects to even mention the mileage. Methinks he would have had more time to ride it if he would have stepped away from the keyboard more often. Speaking of which, I may just do that now.

Come on... Guys!

Chill out. I'd say he had a bit to get off his chest and used the opportunity to attempt to convince the buyer that what he was buying was something not found on every street corner. A bit windy, but give the guy a break. My only question would be...why he is selling it. Looks beautiful and he says he has a lot of memories tied up in it. But guess, given the right reasons and troubles in life, even "memories" have a price.

Hope he's not one of the regular crew here in the forum as after he just just got torched, we won't be seeing him again...will we.

Cheers...

He definitely takes some poetic license.

Perhaps the fiberglass tank is from a previous owner changing the bike from an Interstate or Hi Rider.

Interesting that he doesn't mention a repaint (except for the tank), and why didn't he put the 'electric start' decals on the side covers?

There was a thread several weeks ago about matching numbers and originality - just another example of a good-looker that doesn't quite add up.

However, does it really matter?

Maybe because the starter motor isn't fitted?

Looks like a starter motor to me

It looks like a standard blanking plate on the primary case to me...

Check the lower left photo of the four, the starter motor isn't there.

I saw this same poetic posting for this bike over 3 months ago. The guy lives about 3 miles away from me.

I was so impressed with his prose, I printed out the ad. He had it listed at $10K then, and I think it was on eBay too.

At least his price is a more reasonable $7K now.

If somebody on this forum is really interested in the bike, I could go check it out for you, give the tires a kick etc. I currently own a Mark 3 too.
