Cafe,
I don’t know if the filters from AN will fit if the adapter has been installed.Myself I also use the WIX filter but you have much more of a choice with the adapter in place.

It appears I’ve plenty on choice on the filter front though most on Matt’s list are limited availability in the U.K. thanx.

So, what special tools should I acquire for regular maintenance looking forward? I’ll need the large sump spanner and a guess the small pre-bent open spanner for the hard to access head nut at the back. Clutch pressure plate tool?

Edit: Yet another idle issue free ride, fingers crossed it’s in the past and no need to pull things apart.

All depends how deep you intend going in future. My approach is to buy the tool I need for a job each time, and the ‘collection’ then builds over time.

But for starters I’d say:

Fork top nut and sump plug spanners.

Clutch spring tool.

TDC tool.

Strobe.

It’ll have cNw head hardware, so a thin walled 12 point socket selection.

A set (or two… most bolts also have a nut) of British spanners (BSF / BSW) as well as a set (or two) of American spanners (Unified / AF… most of Matt’s hardware is AF).

I’m sure there loads more others will suggest …

Regarding the large sump spanner - 38mm socket done like this: https://www.accessnorton.com/Norton...ade-to-maintain-your-norton.32308/post-666956

Speaking of sump plugs, anyone here elected to fit AN’s sump filter with inbuilt sump plug to preserve the small sump plug casing thread? Is it really necessary?

I have bought one, it looks good, but I haven't fitted it yet - a job for the next oil change. It is complete with copper washer, inner gauze etc. AN also offer a suitable spanner. Probably not absolutely necessary, but it will mean that I don't have to undo (wear) threads in the crankcase.

Yep - done that while I was experiencing wet-sumping.
Good to save the threads in the alloy casings IMHO.
Problem solved but good to have it there as back-up.
Actually bought the stainless one from Eurotrash - very nice item. I also devised a way that the top clip can never come loose. https://www.accessnorton.com/NortonCommando/large-crank-drain-mod.38890/post-660984
It is easy to use and easy to make
Cheers

I already had Whitworth spanners, but bought this early on, then added to it as I had things to repair (clutch lock, pullers, etc.).
It covers the basics.

Andover Norton's deliveries are prompt in the UK. So, get what you need as the need arises.
I had to make a thin spanner, I think for one of the chain guard nuts, from an old bicycle multi-tool.

Today I got to check out this mythical beast.

I can confirm chaps… it really IS that yellow !!

Seriously, it’s a fabulous thing, an absolute credit to Matt and Simon.

Next time, we’re racing !!
