I remember seeing the film on UK TV in the late 1970s and being ever so impressed with the Joe Bar scenes but annoyed by the anti-motorcycle theme.
Googling it now, it seems that it was based on a book by a Canadian called Buell and the French took the '60s B movie outlaw biker revenge theme and perhaps due to a lack of outlaws and Harleys, hired in the locals on the current sporting tackle. The guys I knew on Kwacker triples were bonkers but they weren't nasty.
I recall a movie from the late 60's or early 70's with John Gregson ( I think) as a policeman. Inspector Norton. So, naturally he rode a yellow 750 Fastback or Roadster ( it was a long time ago) which he uses to take a lady friend out on. The only damn thing I remember about the movie. The two of them on the trailer being towed around London in the fake riding shots.

I remember Marrian Faithfull & Alan Delon in girl on a motorcycle.
I think she had a Harley & he rode a 750 Atlas . She used to be a nice bit of stuff when she was younger.
I seem to remember they had the bike in Gus Kuhn motors at one time.
I used to have an Atlas before I bought my commando so thats why I remember it.

"The MotorCycle Diaries" circa 2004 based on the book of the same name is about 23 year Ernesto "Che" Guevara and his friend Alberto Granado 29. A true story of their travels in 1952 across the continent of South America on a 500 cc Norton International. Google "Motorcycle Diaries" for all the info you need. Based upon the exploits of his travel and the knowledge to the nature of the impoverished people, he became the Marxist revolutionary and the leader of the Cuban Revolution. The motorcycle is like the third star of the movie. Tons of Norton footage.
Thanks for this, I don't know how many times I almost rented it but didn't. Guess I'm too used to being disappointed by dvd cover shots. My main criteria is if it's based on a true story I'll probably like the movie. I'll definitely check it out.pvisseriii said:

That's actually the only Norton movie I'm aware of, other than the Vampire Norton movie mentioned earlier. It does not seem to be available in this country however.

I think it actually did finally come to dvd here bout 2 months ago around halloween. Pretty sure I saw it on amazon
On holidays most of my college friends and I get together. There is always an opportunity to run a fun movie but it has to appeal equally to men and women and ages 23 to 60. I might rent this one next time, I was also thinking the Burt Monroe movie "world's Fastest Indian."
It does occur to me that we are about to get a foster kid from New Zealand for a few years but I think he'd be OK with a good bike movie. I expect to be building a bike with him shortly.

Batman with Val Kilmer and Chris O'Donnell. O'D rides a stripped-down bobber Commando. Bruce Wayne's collection includes a Vincent Black Knight.
The Rookie with Clint Eastwood and Charlie Sheen. Clints character has a '67 Commando in his collection that looks exactly like my 71.
