Lonesome Dove .... will always remember Tommy Lee standing over the burial plot of the Danny Glover character to sing his praises ...”he was cheerful in all kinds of weather and never shirked a task” ..... one of the better compliments that can be paid any person .... even in real life .....

Craig, it was August McCrae, (Robert Duval) who read the words Woodrow Call, (Tommy Lee Jones) had carved into the grave marker of Deets, (Danny Glover).

The scene that sticks out in my mind is when Woodrow is wailing the life out of the Army scout who had quirted Newt. After he’d been subdued by Gus, he realized people were standing around, mouths agape with what they’d just witnessed. Woodrow mounts up and says to the crowd, “I hate rude behavior in a man. Won’t tolerate it”.

I’ve met people like Woodrow. Worked with them, as a matter of fact. Saw what they do to correct an injustice. They never brag or threaten. If you trip their trigger you’ll wish the hell you hadn’t.

I think Bob Raber is just such one of these men. DNFW!

As I have a few hours to spare in the coming weeks :-) Thought I'd check out some of these recommendations and order through e-bay etc... Is this actually a movie? Lots of box sets of series out there... Only seen one movie so named but it hasn't got Duvall in it (did enjoy Open Range)

Originally Lonesome Dove was a 4 part TV series. I did buy it on a DVD. Also, available to stream.

I know there’s a lot of TV viewing during this shut-in. Don’t neglect your exercise. Especially us old farts.

I bought a super stationary recumbent exercise bike and a rowing machine that kicks my ass for less than $1000. Now, if I ever get my stimulus money I’ll be $200 ahead.

My favorite scene in "dove"

Surprised nobody has nominated "silver dream racer" one of David's finest !
But it has to be the British ending not the US one

My suggestions in no particular order:
