Hi. I have a 1965 G15 CS (750 Commando engine) and I have got a a leaky primary drive chaincase gasket which needs replacement. Any recommendation on a good gasket solution?

Although a later mk3 850, I had the same problem with the AN primary gasket. LAB recommended sticking with it, but using a light smear of grease both sides. It has worked for me. Another benefit is, I opened the primary again a while back and the gasket came off and looked fresh, so I put it back on a second time (fresh smear of grease). Still oil tight, 1000 miles so far.

Thanks for your advice. Anyone you would recommend for the gaskets?

I use Andover Norton. The other benefit of the grease approach is how easy it is to clean off compared to the gasket compounds. I thought that would make it less resistant to leaks over time. Not yet. :-)

For a Commando engine to go into a G15 chassis means the chaincase studs at the crankcase had to be re-oriented (I believe).

Perhaps the unused holes are allowing oil to migrate? I'd carefully plug them with short allen head plugs, Loctited in place.
