Both sides of the gasket.I have used silicone rtv gasket maker ( high torque-grey color) permatex . Just lightly coat the gasket with it.
I have never not used a gasket . Norton UK advised to go to Judd Racing for parts. Thanks all. Is the best way to use these products instead off a gasket…..or to seal a gasket with tears, etc therefore keeping the gasket in place and using this in the problematic areas?
I don't think they used washers on the brembo clutch cylinder/. You can be sure to bend the front sprocket tab down into the sprocket hole to help hold it.So started with the advice on here and picked up quick/easy jobs first.....
Slave cylinder off and checked ball-bearing for grease. Looked ok but put a smear on prior to re-fitting.....
Next was the sprocket nut - it looked ok. The locking washer has moved a bit, but seems locked in place. I don't have a socket big enough so a visual check will do for now. thoughts?
Also took the opportunity to clean the crud out from behind the cover...weight saving!
Next is to get the primary cover off (tomorrow) and then visually inspect the clutch & replace plates/springs over the weekend
Last thought - I had spacers on the sprocket cover (as expected) but did NOT have washers on the slave bolts.....is this an issue?
Ok - so here's the latest -
Sprocket washer was received this week. Just waiting on a big socket and then I'll tackle that job.
The clutch is out and new one is here. Will do that over the next few days.
Here's a few pics from today....and 1 question for the group!
So here's the question - the inner basket is solid. Spins freely with no play. Happy! The outer basket, however, has very slight play when wiggled. Like maybe 0.5mm or so. Is that normal?
It should come off but you may have threadlocker in the splines . Your clutch basket is essentially being sandwiched together by those 4 rivets , and why you check your basket play/looseness . At some point in the future I would remove the entire basket and get the Stu Bodycote clutch basket service. He can weld the rivets , or replace them with special bolts and even replace your cush drive springs.I've got the hub nut off but the hub itself isn't moving away. Is that normal? If so, I assume I need a puller??
Yes, the hub on mine was difficult to get off. I used a plate puller, with bolts screwed into two of the standoff’s. If you do manage to get it off, you will see there are three sets of three holes around the outside. Stu enlarges them by around 1mm I think, to improve oil flow to the clutch plates.I've got the hub nut off but the hub itself isn't moving away. Is that normal? If so, I assume I need a puller??
