2030 fossil fuel ban costs in the UK

My respect for (some of) our police force diminishes daily....

(And where did they find so many?)
I didn't see the police handing out cups of tea like they were to the stop oil protesters that were glued to the road???

Is that relevant here?

The first video is simply looking at this global problem at a national level, primarily because we don’t (yet) have Orwellian global governments !

But all we gotta do is extrapolate the numbers (and add lots to factor in the lower income economies who have a much bigger task implementing the necessary EV infrastructure) to see the global issue.

Its a genuine question that no one seems to be prepared to publicly discuss: where is the money going to come from ??

And before anyone says ‘yeah but we need to’ and ‘it’s really important’ that is a separate discussion. I’m asking: where from?

Personally I think the article makes a fundamentally valid point, it does not say EVs are wrong, just that the ICE ban is potentially wrong, or at least being forced too soon.

Which is exactly where I’m at. Continuing to use ICEs which are cleaner and greener than ever before, whilst simultaneously pushing alternative technologies as hard as possible, until we reach the point whereby ICE are simply out competed by BETTER alternatives, that seems a far more realistic way forward to me.

Improved ICE / electric hybrid is so obviously the right answer in my simple mind (just as Toyota has said from the beginning, they GAVE AWAY their patentable technology precisely so the whole world can work with it and develop it). A tank of fuel could be made to go thousand (not hundreds) of miles, we‘d only have to fill up once per quarter, and we’d have zero ‘range anxiety’.

But until politicians stop pushing the very incorrect ‘zero emissions’ claim of pure EVs, a common sense approach, or even a genuienly attainable goal, seems highly unlikely.
Well said Nigel.

Yeah well my brother can beat up your brother so there!
So much of politics is just tit for tat, your money in my pocket etc.
With all the current nonsense in the UK this morning I am just done with worrying about this stuff.
I am not current in politics in many other countries.
However, HERE the stakes are VERY HIGH.
My children & grandchildren deserve to live prosperous free country like I enjoyed.

That is the crux of the problem
Our kids and grandkids are being conditioned to not be free
They will not have the freedoms and opportunities that we had
The restrictions that are to be imposed on the people of Oxford are unreal and are worth looking at if you want a scare

Minnesota Woke Lawmakers push ban on gas-powered lawn mowers, chainsaws to curb ‘climate pollution’

Two Minnesota lawmakers are proposing a pair of bills that would significantly impact the state’s backyards and neighborhood ice rinks in an effort to combat climate change.

State Woke Reps. Jerry Newton and Heather Edelson, members of the Minnesota Woke-Farmer-WOKER Party, introduced legislation on Monday that would block the sale of common landscaping appliances like lawn mowers and chainsaws as well ice-resurfacing machines such as Zambonis, requiring that only electric battery versions be sold in the state starting Jan. 1, 2025.
The ban on lawn and garden equipment would include any machine that uses “a spark ignition engine rated at or below 19 kilowatts or 25 gross horsepower.” Commonly used landscaping tools like lawn mowers, leaf blowers, hedge clippers, chainsaws, lawn edgers, string trimmers and brush cutters would all be prohibited by that definition.
The measure follows a Woke-backed clean energy bill signed into law by Gov. Tim Walz that requires electricity production be 80% carbon-free by 2030 and 100% by 2040. Others labeled it the “blackout bill.”
“DFLers are committed to taking action on climate – unchecked climate pollution threatens Minnesota’s future,” House Speaker Melissa Hortman said after lawmakers passed the bill, according to Alpha News. “Now is the time to take bold action and ensure Minnesotans have the healthy climate and clean energy future they deserve.”
Life under The woke climate cult is a constant assault on anything that was considered normal last week.

I don’t mind seeing a police presence when there is a large gathering, they have a job to protect people and property against ‘mob mentality‘ that can infiltrate any large group.

But heavy handed policing makes my stomach churn.

And worse, is the double standards.

Police STAND BY AND WATCH as protesters block the roads. And destroy statues. Etc. And as soon as ‘the other side’ want to March, they turn up on horseback.

Seriously folks, what is going on ??

Having said all of that, that small group of mask wearing protesters did look like a rent-a-mob intent on picking a fight with the police. CURRENTLY in this country there is no need to cover your face in order to protest peacefully.

That has to be the very definition of virtue signalling.

I‘d love to see the Pareto chart that shows such appliances impact on C02, I think it would be a VERY long way towards the end of the tail.

This guy makes some very interesting points about the current EV targets being basically impossible. Most of these points are in the first minute or so…

He ends buy saying buy and EV if you want one for the driving experience… just NOT for environmental reasons.

Socialist boil a frog. Mind conditioning.
I hate it.
Transition to a police state.

Agenda 20/30
Unsustainable greeny looney logic at work with no peer reviewed viability studies to back up their crap....
If Tawain falls not only will electric vehicles be affected ...gasoline powered vehicles will be too...plus we will all struggle to be able to get a new fridge or any other smart electric appliance ...(another supply chain issue coming)...Unless of course you get it from Chyna ....Our current government is also subsidizing ev sales with our tax money at a time when they need to pull the purse strings tight...and once people realize they are not just incompetent and wake up to the fact they want to crush the working man to become more dependent on...you guessed it....the bloody government 🙃
We don't NEED "smart" appliances... or any other over complicated over priced shit.
There is only ONE US made washing machine left, Speedqueen, made in Rippon, Wisconsin. And they just so happen to last 25 years...👏🏻💡🏁💪🏻

US readers, speak with your wallet: https://speedqueen.com/

Big subject - deserves a thorough critique into where (and from whom) we get our information. Not doubting the good professors credentials. Some might doubt his motivations. The below link is worth a read as it (at the very least) puts counter arguments to ‘the facts are on my side’ presentation by Prof Plimer. Have to say that I haven’t read his book on the subject.

Climate Change-proof-claim 🙃
I would put my trust in a geologist and other geologists/scientists that agree with his views... than this leftist/woke aap fact checker bullshit that work for nothing for faceake and twitter...the very same big tech companies that silenced/banned medial scientists that had differing views about covid and treatments..who are now about to be taken to task by U.S congress...

I am increasingly sceptical of any scientist who accuses another of ‘missinformation’.

Its simply not how science works!

When a scientist publishes their work and results, it is an alternative scientific opinion… that IS NOT misinformation !!

The whole way it works is: publish - critique - repeat and gradually work towards a consensus of opinion (towards, not arrive. There are many, many areas of science where there is not a full consensus).

If every scientist whoever published an alternative view point was canceled (as folk would like today) we’d still be living in freakin’ mud huts… !

Both The Times and The Telegraph running articles blaming conspiracy theorists for misrepresenting 15 minute city zones. Glad to see the comments show no-one is buying the whitewash.

Tonight on NZ television news they ran the exact same storyline...for the very first time...they all sound triggered to me as most sensible folk aren't buying their bollocks...

Remember the Ozone layer way back in the days about all the holes causing problems, don't hear much about it these days but my dear old grandmother, rest her sole said to me one day after listening and reading all about it in the days on the news and papers as we were all doomed, her way of thinking was, we never had a problem until they started to shoot rockets up into space.
This planet has been changing for billions of years ice age, the big bang theory, droughts/floods etc.etc. to name a few it's just only the last century that the secientish are taken notice.
The earth is just evolving again and so much problems from human interventions from pollution and waste that man kind creates, but these fools who force their way of thinking on us, gluing themselves to roads, bridges or anything to get themselves on the news and all they are doing is putting people off trying to get to work and to be able to live their lives as most of those save the earth people don't seem to work for a living and living on Govt hand outs, then you get the greens in Govt and get a bit of power behind them forcing their ways on how we live, if they had their way they lock every place up to stop us enjoying our free time from pressures of life.
I think I am doing my bit these days, I live a simple life been retired for 9 years now so not driving much these days, I don't have AC in my house windows and doors open to keep my house cool in summer and in winter (if you can call it that here) I dress for the cold as well extra warmth on the bed, I still keep the windows open as I love my fresh air flow even in winter, I just care about my little block of land, I try to grow my own veggies and fruit and just want to live my life without being forced to stop riding my bikes and told how to live.
These minority groups seem to have to much say in how we want to live our lives and forcing their ways on us all.
I care about my environment and I am doing my thing to help but being forced to do things or change is just not on.
Just look how big our country Australia is wide and far between East and West, electric cars or trucks just no good for us, yes ok in the cities, no good for our distant between cities, every one is becoming soft and need their houses fully AC and in peck times our power supplies can't keep up and the greens want to close our coal power station down and still stay nuclear-free as well.
Wonder what they do when they close our old power stations down and they don't have enough power to run their AC, lights or their electric cars and of course all their devices they rely on.
We can't win no matter which way they go we just don't have the inforucher in place to keep up.
Anyway this is my opinion. I just want to live my life without the BS.

When I was at school the scare story used to be the coming ice age
And worrying about oil running out
Then it was the ozone layer
There are kids around these days that believe we have only a few years left before we all burn up
There is definitely a change in the climate
There always has been
Whether it's man made or not is another matter
