Hi, to introduce myself, getting my stock 74 Interstate this week, second Norton since my ES2 in 1978, so a rookie question really. 65 and live in France though British.
I see high level "street scramblers" with high level exhausts, some both on one side, some one either side.
What models/year did this change.
I see the both same side set up is available for about 2K euros complete.
Is the separate side system also available?
Thanks

The same side exhaust was fitted to the 750 'S' type in 1969-70.

The exhaust fitted on each side was the 1971 750 'SS' model.

Is the separate side system also available?

Note that the 'S' type had a 3.00 section front tyre and a closer-fitting mudguard to prevent the mudguard from hitting the exhaust under fork compression which is something you need to take into consideration if you were to fit an 'S' type exhaust to an 850, also 'S' would and I believe L/H 'SS' exhausts/silencer would have to be removed to gain access to the battery compartment as the 'S' type battery access is on the RH side. The fittings into the cylinder head are also different.
