SCS Delta 400 Users Group

You may not have to spend the big $$$$ to join the Delta 400 club. Contact Stewart Taylor at SCS Delta USA. His email is st.tesystems@gmail.com or call 408-458-6845. They are located in Southern California.
They unlocked my SC Typhoon, uploaded the "latest 961 Cal file" and also included a CAN USB Cable to work with the software, if needed. I haven't needed to. This all cost WAY less than a Delta 400 setup! My idle speed is perfect at start up and low rpm hesitation problems are gone. I have not messed with my bike except for upgraded sensors and relays. My original O2 sensors are still installed.
My SE is a May 2014 build with the Norton Short Open Slip-ons. This ECU work was done last month. So far, so good.
Thanks for the info, I seem to have a damaged idle stepper chip inside my Typhoon V4 ECU which is the source of my idle problem so I will see if they do repairs as well!

The biggest advantage is accessibility to the ECU with the free software and advice and files from SCS Delta . This can help you diagnose problems like sensors and switches. But you must have a laptop and interface box/cable. IF YOU are happy with the OMEX and have access to NORTON or dealers then why switch ?? Does your bike idle good ? Does your bike start and run good ?
Almost forgot , SC is compatible with OBD2 diagnostic scanners . Your conversion harness will probably include a OBD2 connector on it. I do not know this , just guessing based upon the previous SC Typhoon. You can email SCS Delta and ask. .
Up to 5000 miles my 2016 Omex 961 ran perfectly,
Then the revs started to creep up when the bike was sat at lights, junctions etc.
Taking advice from this forum Lambda sensors removed and bridged out.
Bike back to normal,Now after a few more miles the revs at rest want to stall the bike. The bike never stalls but feels as if it wants to.
Out for a ride yesterday & she pulls like a train and is so smooth,So would fitting a Delta be an improvement?

5000 miles for me also and ticking over spot on until now it’s not; the opposite for me though. When starting from cold she idles perfectly at 1200 rpm. When warm this drops to 1100 rpm which is right on the stall point for my bike. As soon as I’m back on the road I’ll have another look at this.

Have been told that the IAM can warp when hot so not electrical as such more mechanical.
I suspect that it’s a few things combined.
Carbs.anyone!

Hello MAK , The last thing I want to do is to tell you to spend 650 pounds for a SC Delta conversion. The first thing you should do is email or call SC Delta and ask for Matt Payne he is the person who helped me. Find out if they even finished the OMEX to SC conversion harness etc.. Now , for my explanation on why I purchased the SC Delta 400. First , My bike already had the SC Typhoon ECU installed , so the conversion was a direct replacement and I was essentially looking for a replacement back up that's all. Second , I was very close in buying the also expensive Norton SC to OMEX ECU conversion to meet this back up replacement requirement ( boy am I glad I didn't ) . Third , I was excited ( so to speak ) to have access to the ECU for troubleshooting and tuning , So the open access to SCS and their ECU's make sense to me. Where as with the OMEX , for my ability anyway , was closed/restricted access and no support from OMEX at my owner level. Fourth and lastly , I had good success fixing my idle with the SC Typhoon by using the software and interface provided by SC Delta . I know more now about the bike than I did before by using the software with the ECU . For example , I know exactly where my TPS voltage is at Idle , I can quickly monitor and see if it moved/changed . On the Typhoon it needed to be about 1.01V and on the Delta 400 , .98V . I can see how open or closed the IAM is , what the head temp is , Air box temp etc.. Now if my bike still didn't idle well or ran bad , I would let you know that. But its been very good. So , at the very least with the SC Delta setup , you can see more of what's going on and fix it.

Many thanks thanks for taking the time to reply.
This is now something that I will look into.
Have contacted Matt and I am now waiting for his reply.
Once again thanks.

Further update on today’s ride out.
Took 961 out this morning, seemed to take ages to warm up with coughing and banging from left exhaust, also on the overrun more exhaust popping with the throttle hanging on,
It was terrible. So stopped the bike ignition off ignition on.What a difference this made, bike went back to being normal again!!
Apart from the freezing temperature the rest of the ride was most enjoyable..
This is probably the last ride of the year,
The salt commeth.

This is something I got the other day for the first time in ages. Used to get it on occasions often if the bike was a bit cold in the morning - even just a few degrees below usual. The starter motor would be struggling but the bike would fire up then run rough as anything with raised idle and the exhaust smelt hotter than usual. After a mile I would stop, switch off and restart. The bike would turn over and fire normally and all would be well.

My guess was that the battery voltage would drop during laboured cranking so that sensors were getting a reduced voltage causing erroneous outputs to the ecu. I have no evidence to back this up but can't think of any other reason. One of my winter projects was to rig up a LIPO battery as a short-term supply to the ecu and sensors while the bike was cranking.

Mine is a 2017 omex ecu with original Lambda but replaced map, head temp and crank sensors.

This does make sense.
In a previous life I repaired forklifts,
The sensors needed 5volts,after a weekend of none use on Monday morning the truck would be sluggish to start, but when started left to run for a few minutes, the spanner light would be on.
Switch off truck then back on again and everything would be ok.
Yesterday my battery was fully charged but it was a bloody cold morning.
Didn’t start up straight away like normal but took a couple of cranks.Must be a little diva and should take more care tucking it in at night!

My Sport has stated the idle up at 1500 miles. Turn the ignition off and on, back to normal. Tony, I contacted the SCS location in California and the indicated that they could unlock my typhoon and load " late 961 map" Your Delta was loaded with an aftermarket type of tune, correct? Like "race cam" or something like that ?

My 2016 Sport has an Omex & exhausts are loud stubbiest, map done at the factory.

Hello Gchoppin , I purchased the Delta 400 from SCS Delta UK , the map is called (Norton 961 with race cans) . This could be the same map you will be getting from SCS California or functionally the same , I don't know. According to SgtUSAF his results were good . As long as the SC Typhoon is in good working condition keep using it with this latest map they offer ? Less expensive then the Delta 400 right ? This is really great to have options for this ECU hey ? Having the SC ECU may be a benefit after all is said and done !

Yes Bill , If you are referring to the normal running , starting and idle . All of these things are working OK as supplied by SC Delta. The side stand cutoff and tip over issue was resolved earlier this year with a new Bin file , this was our only issue now resolved. To date there are only about 4 members I know of who have the Delta 400 . Myself , Claudio , lcrken and iwilson . There may be others , I have not seen them on the forum. I never used a Dyno Jet power commander , so my impressions are bound to be different to yours . My experience from a SC Typhoon with the (#077 Map) to the SC Delta 400 with (Norton 961 with Race Cans Map) was a good deal more power from 4000 rpm up. It was surprising to say the least the extra kick it had that first time out. The response below say 2000 to 4000 rpm seems soft and gentle by comparison. It really acts like it now comes on the cam so to speak , and if driven in that 4000 to 7000 rpm range really keeps it on the boil. This Delta 400 ECU and map have really converted this bike from roadster to sport mode for lack of a better term. I managed to raise the rpm limiter 250 rpm which helps and now I get good long pulls to 7k and beyond which really keeps this thing flowing in the power as I hook through the gears. The problem I have with it now is that I am always reaching higher in the rpm range because it works so well there now.
Hi Tony,
Where did you purchase the DELTA 400 from, UK or California, and who did you deal with. Do you know where the maps for the 961 are created, if California would they be subject to emissions.

I purchased from the UK SCS Delta , and Matthew Payne . All Norton SC maps were created by SCS UK according to Matt. Maybe you should call SCS in California and see what they have to say. It seems to me that SCS Delta needed a NA/USA distributor/importer probably anyway.
