New to 961?

Its shiny. Its a safety lock. Pry it off with a flat screw driver and the rest is easy.

My dealer is not as savvy as yours, they didn't even know they had the 090 series maps until I told them where to look. They don't know what a BIN is? Is the cable propietery, some bikes I have use just a printer cable! And if I could get the cable where would I ( we ) source the maps and other software, my dealer isn't sharing his?

My dealer is my dad. Norton Canada sends the info to all cdn dealers when he gets it. I would imagine all the dealers get the same info in other parts of the world.

They Email a note saying what to do and how with instructions from Norton UK and the ecu files.

Ok, so that's not available to the rest of us, unless you want to share?

Ive basically shared everything I know weather its from Norton or my own discovery. Example the BIN FILES, how to know what revision the maps are, ect...

Yeah, I for sure get that. Jonathan Reece is a good USA resource. OR .... Order a cable from norton and do it yourself.

Richard,

Does Norton sell the ECU interface cable to owners?
Will it work for both the SC and OMEX ECUs?

Fred my ECU should be the same as yours and takes a 16 pin parallel port connection that you can get anywhere, you probable already have one. That is what I use to read my diagnostics with via a Bluetooth unit. It is the software to upload and download and the Maps etc. that are hard to come by!

By the way; there is an encryption key in the cable for uploading. Been there done that.

Sgt Both BritTwit and myself and I think Britfan60 had flat spots with 077 that dissapeared with the 090 series maps. I am sure Britfan60 will chime in on this so I don't mean to speak for him!

I already did chime in. Post #35 on this thread. 77 was awful with the SBN DS. 91 was perfect beyond belief. 91 is slightly quirky now with the SBN Second generation pipes which you have, Sgt., if its related to the mapping. Idling at 1400-1600 sometimes when hot. The cans are shorter and wider on the Motad/Norton exhaust. Also, the baffles look a little more substantial on the second gen SBN than the first DS pipes I had. The DS sounded deeper and the SBN gen 2 sound a little less loud and higher pitch raspier if that has anything to do with it too.

Perfect !! Here is the answer to the map question.

Is the answer #77 with 2nd gen SBN's or the "slightly quirky" #91 with 2nd gen SBN's? I am reading that #77 "was awful" with the 1st gen pipes, not the 2nd gen. I don't mean to go on and on, but pulling the ECU and sending it off is not something I want to do more than once. I would like to be reasonably sure about this whole deal and be able to just ride.

Thank you again to everyone for their great input!

Ok, back to square one again and can we buy the cable. And can we get the software and maps?

Just got a reply back from Kev French at Norton UK after requesting they send me cost of purchasing a OMEX cable for downloading MAPs as I live in the US and have no Norton dealerships within 500 miles of my residence. Thoroughly explained all this to them as well as supplying them receipt from Fraser Ducati/Norton of Australia of Long Open exhausts with De-Cat pipes and a MAP. Here's the reply I received:

Hello David,
Unfortunately the leads and software are available to Norton Dealers only.
Kind Regards

So for me at least its a no go for a OMEX cable :(

NOOO. I know less about mechanics than anyone here other than how the bike behaves. And Sgt., I never ran #77 with the second generation pipes. I've only just put them on a few weeks ago and did a few hundred miles. The bike runs pretty well, starts first press 90% of the time. I have a crunchy vibe back at 3700 rpm like I had with map 77 on the first gen. pipes but bearable. I still have to install the Bosch sensors so that might cure a few things but overall, things are not perfect yet not too bad either.
